I plan to move in Toronto, there are different comments if it is OK place to live or no.

Pros:

Multi-cultural city--everyone lives together in harmony and there are rarely hate crimes. If you feel uncomfortable living with other races and orientations, this is not the city for you.

Incredible night life. There's always something going on.

Friendly people, for the most part.

Cons:

Traffic is horrible. Thousands of people come to the city every year, and the road infrastructure was just not meant to handle that many people.

Scarborough--lots of shootings there in recent years. I just moved from there a few weeks ago. My van was stolen out of my apartment building parking lot. A real bummer.

Homeless people--but generally they leave you alone. There are some panhandlers, but most of them aren't aggressive.

$$$. I was paying $800 for a tiny one-bedroom apartment. Now I live near Windsor, and am paying $600 for a 2 bedroom house.

Toronto is definitely a fun city to live in. If you compare it to other cities of similar size, such as Chicago or Detroit, the crime is so negligible it's not even funny. Toronto had something like 50 murders last year. Chicago had over 500. I've never been afraid to go out at night and be in the city. I've never been afraid, period. And I definitely would be in the other cities I mentioned.

Toronto is an OK place, I suppose one of the better places to live in North America if you had to live in a large city. But when I lived and worked in the GTA (Greater Toronto Area), I didn't like it.

There's always a tension in the air, people are very edgy, and no, people are not all that friendly. The traffic is terrible, although the public transit options can get you around that.

It's horribly expensive to live in Toronto, no matter how you choose to live. Plus, you'll have the rest of the country looking down on you and your city (most other Canadians don't care much for Toronto).

you're going to get the good with the bad.......
but I was born and raised here and I can't see myself living anywhere else.

Where else can you get FREE health care.....1 year PAID materinity leave........
and all the most multiculturalism anywhere in the world.
It's clean too......from what I've heard.......that's what everyone says about Toronto.

I won't emphasize on the bad......cuz if you're coming here you want to be positive...and think positive....and feel good you made a good choice....
