Once man evolved to the point that he could understand his place on earth, he would've needed some set of beliefs explaining how he got here, etc. This is why paganism would've been his first religion. He would've worshipped many gods, whom he believed controlled the forces of nature. Rain gods, fire gods, sun gods, moon gods, etc.
----Edit----
In response to your additional details, no he wouldn't have worshipped the Judeo-Christian God.

The first man (and woman) did not need a religion. They walked and talked with God in an intimate relationship. (it was actually Jesus they walked and talked with as no one has actually seen GOD) When they disobeyed GOD, this relationship was broken, not as much on God's part as on theirs. They are the ones that hid from God.
As for now, religion is man's invention to try to reach God and it never works. Jesus was GOD reaching down to man and if we accept HIM, it always works. Read the link below to find out how you can restore this relationship with GOD He intended us to have from the beginning.

Adam had a relationship with God, so he worshiped Him. What better way than walking and talking (literally) with God?

Alot of people believe that Adam is the first man and he believed in God that created the garden of Eden.
So he would have to be a Jew.
But there had to be other people so it would be the normal worshipping of the sun and moon of trees and water. etc.
Science say that humans evolved out of africa and in africa we have the Bushman's also called San of the kalahari and they are considered first people in Africa and they worshipped the sun the wind the moon etc.

No. The first person probably couldn't communicate. He/she didn't talk words and therefore didn't think in words. They just ate fruit and vegies and the odd dead cow.
He/she would not have had the concept of life and death and did not need to explain them. He/she probably lived until he/she was 27 or so.
By the way, who did Cain marry?
Also: The story of Adam and Eve is in both Judaism and Islam. Christianity inherited it from Judaism.

religion:
1. a set of beliefs concerning the cause, nature, and purpose of the universe, esp. when considered as the creation of a superhuman agency or agencies, usually involving devotional and ritual observances, and often containing a moral code governing the conduct of human affairs.
IF that is what your reffering to the understanding of what religion is, then it began witht the fall of man. When man fell, they had their own practices and beliefs, before the fall it was the way, the truth and the life, never based on your belief. That religion was called sin.

just like Moses penned in the beggining, and put his god in there, blended other cultures in to justify poor and illiterate workers to worship him and his brother Arun (kemetic spelling)
I feel, so did the beginning cultures (no first man) felt the need to have to control others besides military, so a brillian mind job of Big Meanie Thunder God in the sky who could read your mind and watched you like Big Brother and could take you away to hell at any given moment for "bad" behavior
