Since your dog was stuck with another dog she will most likley be pregnant.
Heat last three weeks one week in one week to breed and one week out. They can bleed at any time durring this time or not much at all. The swelling may take another week or more to go down.
Talk to your vet since she could have been expsed to many other dogs you could have a litter of who knows how many fathers and mixes of breeds. You may want to terminat the litter for her health.

The time to mate a dog is as the bleed is stopping and the swelling is reducing, so yes she could be pregnant. The second bleed could be caused by an infection from a dog that she has been mated by your friends dog may have been clean but you don't know what she was doing on her little excursion to the other side of the city. an ultrasound at between 3/4 weeks will tell you. If this has been with in the last day or so your vet could prescribe some tablets that work like the morning after pill, although they are not 100% guaranteed.

Further to another answer you have had, antibiotics can be prescribed that will not harm the pups but some may discolour the puppy teeth making them yellow but when they adult teeth come they will be white and quite normal.

Good Luck

She could definitely be pregnant from the first time when she was hung up with the friends dog. Female dogs will only accept the males for a few days and when they are bleeding at first that is not the time. Usually a few days after the bleeding. And when she got out, she was probably at the end of her heat and you dont know who she got with then. Evidently some low life mutt who gave her a STD. Probably was married and told her he loved her. Anyway, she probably is pregnant and you need to go back to the vet and see if the antibotics will hurt the puppies and if she needs to be aborted. Good luck .......Get her spayed !!!

There is a small chance she could be pregnant, but most likely not. She should be checked by the Vet again in about 30 days. However, if you want to stop her from getting pregnant, you should have her spayed. This will also help with the running away and getting out problem. Good Luck.

To be sure I would take her back to the vet to see if he could scan her or check for heartbeats. Your poor wee dog sounds like she has been through a lot and the infection could be causing a lot of it - they can do funny things.

If she was mine and I was in any way concerned I would take her back to the vet for peice of mind - what other options are there? If she is pregnant and there are complications, as there can be with Staffies due to the head size coming through the birth canal, its best to be prepared and monitored.

We've just had our 18 month old spaniel spayed - I couldn't cope with this every 6 months!

Give her a cuddle from me and I hope she gets better and feels happier soon.

She is going back to the vets in a few days? What is stopping you from going yourself and asking tomorrow?

Might be an idea to get her spayed when all this is done with. It'd save a lot of heartache. Ask your vet about this too.

Hope your dog is ok.

If you don't want to have her spayed, you can have her injected to terminate the pregnancy straight away.
Or if u want to be sure....Get her scanned, to see if she is pregnant (about 30 days?), and if so she can have 2 injections (24hrs apart) that will terminate the pregnany up to 40 days I think. But be warned, as time goes by the chance of the termination injections working diminish, I think just over 5 weeks is the maximum.
Act now!!

Your dog could indeed, be pregnant ./ or still sick.

you will have to re-visit your vet and explain, what you told us and have her checked.out

She may be having a miscarriage or a recurrence of the infection .

If she is not well , get her to that vet as soon as possible .

I hope your worries will disappear, and your dog feels better in herself soon.

all the best
:)

your poor dog and poor you, i am sure you are frantic with worry. I would be. Yes i bet you were in a state and its easy to forget to ask, But bring her back to the same vet and just ask him to check for you as you are really worried about her, He should look at her for free as they can tell right away
