And somehow some of you 'insightfull' christians have determined that I am gay simply because I believe they have every right to live on this planet and enjoy life. You should be ashamed of yourselves.

well i hope you be true to your beliefs and only eat fruit and vegetables. No biscuits, lollies, chocolate, coffe, alcohol etc etc You know, all the 'unnatural' things that go into many peoples bodies.
Didnt Jesus say "Its not what goes into a man that defiles him, its what comes out of his mouth(his words)"

i think that making laws to sweep a whole group of people under the social rug is an exercise not only in futility, but also stupidity. whether i agree with the homosexual's life choices or not, the best way to buy myself an audience with one is not by doing away with his right to make that choice. this is a choice between consenting adults, and is not anything like say, pedophilia, which involves stealing someone's freedom, and control of their own body.
of course, taking away christian's right to marry would produce the same moral slippery slide, and make the legislator equally guilty of prejudice. right wing "christians" need to spend more time looking at the precedent set by jesus, and a hell of a lot less time eyeballing their neighbors. jesus only got angry with the religious elite...he never came down on the "sinners" he encountered - he loved them, warts and all.
soooo...taking such a radical stance on either count is a big, fat, shortsighted, arrogant, meddling, interfering waste of time. it makes no sense to steal someone's rights away - you are only setting a precedent for the theft of your own freedoms...so yes, i think gay marriage shouldn't be the issue it is, but i dont think making christian marriage illegal is the right answer. sets a bad precedent - hey? of course i think it will soon be legally impossible to be a christian...too many people wont think it through - just like the right wing radicals haven't.
good post, cjunk! you're a mean one, mister grinch ;)

Personally, I think the conflict over gay marriage should be solved this way. Since the word marriage comes from a religious sacrament in the first place, I think the state should stop issuing marriage licenses. Instead, the states should issue licenses for civil union, a legal designation. The couples can be married by their churches as each religion sees fit. After all, there are any number of variations as to how marriage is seen in different religions. We'll put the sacrament of marriage back where it belongs, in the church, and put all people on an equal legal footing by taking the civil union route in licensing for the states.

I think civil marriage should be eliminated.
But, I also think that anyone who professes a belief in any Bible based religion should be neutered to prevent them from having children.
The civilized world has been forced to live with their continual wars, violence, hatred, bigotry and general anti-social behaviors for nearly 2,000 years. Enough is enough.
Isn't that convenient the way Christians can whip out the Old Testament so they can pick & choose which rules they want to impose on others?
I wonder why they don't follow all those rules, including the ones that require them to murder their disobedient children?

They talk about apologists. But in todays world, what we
have are EXCUSISTS!
People who pretend to be Liberal and caring, but only excuse
every type of behavior in order to EXCUSE their own
shortcomings.
Oddly enough. The ones who are intolerant, do it for basically
the same reason. Making more out of others shotcomings in
DENIAL of thier own.
It doesn't take a genius to understand why certain types of
sexual behavior are bad for us.
The body works hard to get rid of the poisons.
Then even so-called "straights", engage in "sodomy", oral and
anal sex. And get the poisons right back in the body.
Let's not be SELF-RIGHTEOUS toward others. They have a spirit
within too.
But lets not be STUPID either.

No, we should allow homosexuals to marry and continue letting heterosexuals of all religions marry too. Just because some Christians want to dictate the way other people live their lives doesn't mean we should stoop down to their level and take revenge. We should rise above that.

how far can we go here, what is the line we cannot cross,in 2006 we know more about everything, the human rights are better, all of us are trying to pin point good, fair and just.It is OBVIOUS to me to make a baby with the woman you chose to be with and raise that person is the ultimate love, anything else is sub-par.I love all man and woman alike but to have the ultimate love is special.Sure allow homosexuals to marry and have children, this is what we are going through in this era, divorces, human rights etc...I believe in all of my being we are crossing the line of what is next,i do not want to say,but in my world,my kids, family and surroundings i will promote the ultimate love only,i will not degrade others but only promote the ultimate love,it is only the positive goodness choice that will give me a better next life for ever and ever, over and over for better ,i am certain of that, this universe tells me that in OBVIOUS EXAMPLES,so good luck to you.

I don't see a problem with homosexuals getting married. I dont see the big deal. People are always trying to get rid of something. Gay marriage cause it is forbidden in the bible, but then they turn around and want to take the pledge of allegiance out of schools beause they dont want to mix church and state.

Marriage is a Christian religious rite. You may as well make it illegal for us to drink wine and eat bread at the same time as well, since it in part, represents the Church's marriage to the Lamb.
