I know here you can do it online but there we pay per minute for internet access, the speeds are low and we are very often cut off.

I would like to know if there is such a thing as a radio that can pick up radio stations from such distances. Anybody got any experience of it? I'm on my yearly visit to England right now.

I have no idea about a radio that could pick up one from such a distance but I do have an idea..

Buy and IPOD (there are certain ones like mp4s preferably) and you can download radio 4 (aspects of it) from their website I think...My friend done it but I have never tried it so I am only going on what she said.

Long Wave (on which Radio 4 is broadcast) goes further than most radio signals. I know we can (in the right conditions) pick up signals in Britain from Eastern Europe, but I don't believe it would work as far away as Kenya. The only comparable channel I'd expect you to be able to get is the World Service on Short Wave.

Digital Satellite Radio is one option which might carry it one day, but the WorldSpace AfriStar satellite currently only seems to carry BBC Global News and a channel called "BBC Africa East" which I guess is World Service.

you can do 3 things i think to listen to radio 4 in Kenya
the first is to listen to the BBC world service
2nd would be to listen on-line at bbc.co.uk/radio4
and finally you could buy a digital radio you should be able to rescan the channels and pick it up, hope this helps
