Get in contact with a company called British Telecom, BT for short and they will sort it all out for you.

You will need a bank account to be able to open the account. Just give BT a call and they will be able to sort out either activating a current line in your house, or install a new one.

Phone BT is the easiest way. There are other telcos but I don't bother, to me phones are cheap anyway.
