This teaches that Jesus (God's son) died for us so we can be 'forgiven'. Or to put it another way - If God is the father and the Son - God sacrificed himself (or sacrificed a part of himself - depending how you view the trinity) to himself to appease himself?
Is that logical or the actions of a merciful God? In Islam (and Judeism) we are rewarded or punished for our actions ('no man can bear one another's burdens) we can approach God with true repentance and ask him to forgive us - and can be forgiven because God is merciful.

As a former born again Christian - now muslim. what I realised is this doctrine is so bizzare - think about it - God needs blood to forgive? And if he does - he accepts the sacrifice of part of himself to himself for a few hours? How can a sinless God take sin upon himself? Would a few hours on the cross equal a punishment for the billions in the world that deserve eternity in hell? The Old Testament prophets were 'good enough' to approact God directly (Abraham, Moses) yet were sinners - why has anything changed now?. Dreamangel - you are wrong about Islam. It is not because we are 'good' that we approach God - but because we are his Creation that we approach God. We are aware of our humanity, our Sins and our responsibily towards God, yet also his mercy towards us. We don't need a sacrifice for God to blot out our sins,

It makes a great deal of sense.
God is a perfect, holy, loving, just, and righteous God. Because His perfect justice required perfect satisfaction, the only way it could be satisfied is if He came and satisfied it Himself. That is the Christian doctrine of atonement, that God gave Himself as ransom for all who will receive it.
Judaism remains under the condemnation of the Law, because the sacrifice of animals only provides a temporary covering.
Islam expects the work(s) of imperfect men to satisfy the righteous judgment of a perfect God? Not likely.
And the Christian doctrine of atonement is not based in mercy, it is based in grace.
Justice is receiving what you deserve in condemnation.
Mercy is NOT receiving what you deserve in condemnation.
Grace is abolishing your condemnation completely and giving you rewards instead.
EDIT:
To your comments: First, Jesus is fully man and fully God, and within that "few hours" He could easily have suffered an eternity's worth of separation from the Father. Secondly, God came to Abraham and Moses FIRST, not the other way around. They could not approach Him, but as they walked with Him, they developed a relationship with Him.

Our actions can never be worthy of a reward. We can never receive the perfection that God would have us attain. If you think about it, every "sin" or wrongdoing has a consequence.
Since Adam and Eve, the consequence of human sin is death. God is a just judge and he cannot take away thing consequence because being just is a part of who he is.
Instead, he allowed that someone else take the punishment for our wrongdoing. Only thing is, that person could have no sin of their own, or they would just be dying as a punishment for their own sins. So, in sending Jesus, who as God's son is perfect, he was able to die in place of us for all our sins.
This shows his love in that he was willing to sacrifice the only one he knew could take our place and make us perfect in his sight. Yes, Jesus is "a part" of God unlike any human relationship and it is therefore difficult for us to understand.
It is impossible to earn our salvation but through believing in Jesus who has taken our punishment we can enjoy a new relationship with God since we are now made perfect in his sight!

Very Good Question I love it.!!!!
In the Chritian Faith, we believe and know we are not worthy to be forgiven of our sins ourselves, so Our God loves us soo much that he sacrifices himself on the cross to bear the sins of all those called in the name of Jesus Christ.
For one to sacrifice themselves for another, is true love.
However, in the Islamic Faith, they decided they don't need Christ, to forgive for them, because they feel they are good enough to go to God themselves. I disagree because, If God tells you only through the Son can you come unto me, then how do they think God is going to feel if they try to by pass his son, to get to him?
Jesus Christ dying on the Cross for our sins is more then Logical, it's an unbelievable kind of Love, that only he can give to us.
I hope this helps Godbless!!!!

Your question is very unclear. All men will be judged one day for our deeds, even Christians believe that if they know the word. Christ's sacrifice simply made a way to get to the father.

in jesus and god you have to 1st understand that god being a spirit he couldnt leave heaven and do what he done thru jesus...he needed a blood sacrafice and him again being a spirit he dont have blood,,,so he put on human flesh just as we are yet without sin..thats why god had to do it that way.....we needed a way back to god and jesus provided that way for us...and if god done it to appease himself thats o.k. because after all he is god!!!
