Don't do it. As much as he hates the police, he probably WILL report you and then you would be in trouble. It is so NOT worth it to bring yourself down to his level.
If you have any information about some of the criminal activities that he gets up to, tell your local police. This will help them build up intelligence against him - and depending what his criminal activities are, could get his house raided.
And everyone will be happy and no-one in trouble but him.

Everybody has had thoughts of revenge and seen many movies where it works but twinkle town and quiet town are different places, as much as it seems a good idea now and i know how much it feels you really need to do it for the community, ask yourself what he did and does it warrant young children thinking that's how we were brought up so it must be okay for them to do such things too. Give him enough rope, he'll hang himself eventually

Here's some suggestions. After you punch him in the face, you can either (a) go home and pile furniture against the door to stop his gang of thugs from getting in and smashing your face in or (b) emigrate, have extensive plastic surgery and go on the run for the rest of your life.
You're probably having a movie fantasy of what would happen if you hit him. The reality will shock you as it's happening. What if he hits you back? What if he's a karate expert and kicks your @ss? What if he has a knife or a gun? What if his friends come out to help him and beat you to a pulp?
Use your head. Don't do it. Let the police handle it.

if you could elaborate on what he has done to you first it would help-for example if he flipped the bird at you then just smile and say "have a nice day....arsehole". but if it something more serious..............well while i agree to stay completely away from such idiots. sometimes this just isn't possible they are right in your face at times and its hard to live without them. if he is giving you a hard time you could go to the police but then you would be labelled a "grass"-snitch. and you would not only have him after you but his mates as well. only if he has sorely provoked you should you launch such an attack (threatened your family for example) only in extreme circumstances should you follow this advice..............what i would do is follow his tracks for a couple of weeks see where he goes what he does etc. then pick your moment carefully.....a nice dark alleyway and a peice of two by four ought to do it. make sure the two of you are alone and you are well covered up and then go for it-if he is drunk that would help. he won't know who hit him and will be asking questions-you go about your normal business and if asked or challenged about it just say "me?? f*ck that man he would kill me" he will carry on guessing-eventually it will mess his head up and he will quiet down eventually.......................oh and don't forget to burn the two by four afterwards!!!.

attack his house with Napalm or charge down his road with a British Army Mark 2 C-64 tank destroyer, you'd scare the living shi* out of him and he'd never come round your way again, but for the best serving suggestion, use napalm, it burns very well and won't stop burinig until it hits calcium, in human terms, it won't stop burning until it hits bone.

put dog poo in a bag leave it on his doorstep set fire to it- the poo not the door and watch from around the corner!!!hee heee
otherwise punching him in the nose seems a good option- If you dress up as a minority, cut one arm off and become gay- you will probably get away with it!!

If you retaliate then you too are criminal scum. If he's done something wrong, act like a mature adult and report him to the authorities. Remember, if you do the crime, then you'll have to do the time. Fancy a jail stint as one of your "life experiences"?

Chop his door down with an axe, that will absolutely scare the living cra.p out of him, then chase him round his house like an axe weilding maniac. If you can find a chain saw use that! then put a petrol can on his door step with wire running out of it and round the corner, fill the petrol can up with water, he wont know and will most likely think its a bomb!
