I really need to lose about 30 lbs. I gained it after I stopped smoking. I get absolutely compulsive about chocolate, or chrunchy foods. I know I am very stressed and a touched depressed. I exercise 5 times a week, but I still go no where. What can I do? How can I break the almost obsessive behaviour?

You have to mentally psych yourself into realizing that the excess food you consume is doing you harm. You have to know that the narcotic like momentary bliss that is experienced is exactly that and long term effects are disastrous in terms of your physical appearance and overall self esteem.

Avoid snacking on chocolates and shift to maybe veggies or something. Green leafy stuff and carrots/cucumbers make great snacks.

Prepare your own food.

Maintain strict meal timings and don't eat dinner after 7 PM, assuming you sleep no later than 11 PM.

Make sure you have a light breakfast as well as other meals since you have to keep your metabolism up.

Good luck! You can do it! I did!

When you want to eat try to do something that you enjoy, like a hot bath or a walk in the park. Also try to drink somewater before you eat. If you do eat try to eat food that is high in fiber.

it depends on how active you are. go exercise or just take a walk. get out of the house and away from food. do things to take your mind off of food. if it's that bad talk to your doctor.

Its great that you make time to work out.
Make sure your workouts are really effective(a lot of people go to the gym, but don't work hard enough).
Any drug to reduce compulsive behavior will possibly make you gain weight, so................

Work out harder.
