i'm going through a personal hell at the minute. i'm confused and basically messed up. i would love to take communion but i'm not worthy. i've done no wrong in my life. yes i've sinned but then again who has'nt?. i've broken most of the commandments except for commit murder, covet thy neighbours goods and his wife. mass says i can take christs flesh. but i am not worthy in any sense to recieve it. i need God him/herself to come and order me to take it. i can't do it any other way. does anybody else feel this way? i'm not pure i'm filthy. i can't take christs flesh God forgive me.

Strange as it may seem, you haven't done anything that many others already have, and if you're truly sorry and willing to repent, God is always willing to forgive.

One of the ways the devil keeps us separated from God is by telling us we're so bad that even God won't forgive us.

That's a lie, of course.

You don't need to receive communion just yet.

Make an appointment with your minister or parish priest and tell him how you feel, then do what he says.

These guys deal with this type of thing all the time, and they know exactly how to fix you up.

There's also a possibility that you might be suffering form depression, or some other related medical issue.

Keep that in mind as you get to work on this.

Looking forward to receiving communion will be the motivation you need to keep at it.

God bless you.

Wait until lent (unless you're gonna pop your clogs) be holy during lent - give up meat (I find that best). Go to all the services, then receive communion at the Easter Day Feast. I did this in preperation for my Confirmation and felt like one of the apostles.

Loads of repenting too! Maunday Thursday Eve, we take the sacrement down into the crypt for a overnight watch until the feast of the reserve sacrement. I spend hours kneeling for forgiveness that night - got bruises and everything - That made it feel better.

Most excommunications nowadays are self-imposed, as in your case. You have judged yourself. Has anyone else judged you?

From the details of your question you believe in the Real Presence. Don't you also believe in the Sacrament of Reconcilliation (Confession)? Have you tried it? That is the only way to get back on track. Repent, reconcile and receive the Body and Blood of Christ. If you feel that you still can't receieve Communion, then try "spiritual communion." Talk to your Priest about this. In the Sacraments he stands for Christ.

Honey, we're none of us "worthy." We all sin. James says if we say we don't sin we call God a liar and the truth is not in us. Pray to Jesus and ask him to forgive your sins, he is infinitely great as well as infinitely small: So there is problem too small for him to care about if it troubles you, nor any sin too large for his precious blood to cover.
The communion is sharing that precious sacrifice on the cross that bought our salvation and freed us from our sin.
"If we confess our sins, he is *faithful and just* to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from *all* unrighteousness." That's in the New Testament, in James.
Read it, believe it, pray and recieve His forgiveness, and go take communion with a light heart.
Blessings.

The days of God publicly intervening are long gone.
Have you thought about a spiritual search instead, to help you understand more? Look to different faiths - Muslim, Buddhism, Jehovah's Witness, B'hai, snake charmers - you get the idea.
Often by searching for something else we find that which is most dear to us.

I am a christian, but I go to a protestant churh ( Church of England/Anglican) we go only by what the bible says. The bible says that God see's all sin to be equal (no matter how bad they may seem). And God forgives every sin provided you choose to accept Jesus the Son of God into your life!

You don;t have to take Holy communion to be saved! Getting to heaven isn't by what do but by what has already been done for when Jesus died on the cross (which is enough to pay for all your sins that you have committed) and on the third day he rose to life!

you must be as prepared to accept forgiveness as you are to accept condemnation. Jesus came to save man with all his faults and shortcomings. Accept the sacrament of reconciliation and receive the Eucharist with confidence.
To all those idiots who crack jokes about cannibalism etc, please be aware that Catholicism believes that transubstantiation is the conversion of the bread and wine into the RISEN AND TRANSFIGURED body and blood of Christ. Their pathetic digs are reminiscent of the public mockery of our religious ceremonies which people like Ian Paisley carried out in the 1960's.

I'm not a catholic but I can tell you that all you need to do is repent, sounds easy and I know its not, but Jesus came to give you a way back to a relationship with your Father. He died for that, and there is no sin at all that his death did not cover. You don't have to live with guilt. Jesus said, 'freely you have recieved.....' that means forgiveness is his gift to you and all you have to do is take. it. Picture it as a gift wrapped present and see yourself opening it. It's rude to reject presents! Believe it or not you are in a good place. Many people never realise their need for forgiveness, but you do and you can get it. If you feel you need to go through a priest then do, personally I believe the bible says that Jesus is our great hight priest, and I go directly to him if I do something wrong. (read hebrews 4 for what the bible says on jesus being a high priest). It says, 'let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may recieve mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.'

this viewpoint fascinates me.

why do you feel this way?

you say you don't feel you have done anything particularly wrong... yet why do you see yourself as being so bad? did not God make you as you are?

I truly have trouble fathoming how one could feel this way, as my beliefs, both religiously and spiritually, are empowering, while recognizing the imperfection and flaws in who we are, but that god loves us and forgives us in spite of our inperfection.

(though, I don't understand why one would want to "take the flesh" like that either... but I get a better feeling of why of that, than why one would feel so down about themself. )

Forget mass, Catholicism is pagan trash, seek the Lord with all your heart, soul, mind and strength. He will restore you unto Himself if you are truly repentent and then find a real bible believing church that is not rooted in pagan traditions such as Idol worship and forgiveness by men.

Dear friend:

I am sorry you hold the traditions of men sacred yet ignore the blatant fact's in scripture that prove Catholicism is a pagan religion. Does God's word mean anything? What will you do with the scriptures saying "Call no MAN Father except your Father which is in heaven" "Make no graven images and bow not down before them" "We have one mediator with God, the man Christ Jesus" Yet your RELIGION teaches you must have forgiveness from a man, it constantly disobeys scripture callin a MAN father, You have more than one mediator who is not Christ, both Mary and your priest. And I could go on and on and on. My friend this walk is to short to walk in darkness, seek out the scriptures yourself, stop being led by the blind........
