This is a question for an assignment at my Bible College. I am specifically looking for responses from people who identify themselves as either evangelical or pentacostal Christians, but I also welcome responses from non Christians. If a Christian could you please identify either evangelical or pentacostal on the post so I can compare responses. Thanks!

The Holy Spirit is VERY important to me. The Spirit washes, refreshes, and renews me moment by moment. The Spirit teaches me, and guides me in ministry to others. The Spirit breaks me when I'm proud, comforts me when I'm broken, heals me when I'm wounded, and draw's me back to the Lord when I stumble. Without the Holy Spirit, I would still be as a man in the wilderness without a compass!

fundamental evangelical Christian

I am a non-denominational Christian who came to faith during the Jesus People movement of early 70s.

Those who have worked with holograms (real holograms) understand that if you look at holographic image with ordinary light, all you would see is a fogged, plastic sheet. However, if you use a specific, coherent light--namely, a laser, suddenly you see a three-dimensional object that you did not know existed before.

So it is with the Bible. When read just as "a book", all you would see is a fogged piece of glass. It means nothing to you. It is neither personal, nor does it even make sense. However, when the Holy Spirit illuminates the pages, something brilliant happens. It becomes love letters that mean the everything to you. Only those who have had this illumination will understand what I am talking about.

So how important is the Holy Spirit? Well, if all you want to see out of the Bible is thousands of pages of fogged text, then not that important. However, if you wish to see the plan of God's redemption of man in three-dimensions--extremely important. In fact, imperative!

evangelical - The Holy Spirit is Essential to my life. If the Holy Spirit didn't dwell in me I would still be spiritually dead and on my way to destruction. He helps me to pray and to grow and enables me to live a life that pleases my Father. He teaches me and guides me and comforts me when I'm down. Without the Holy Spirit I would have fallen into sin many times over. Not to say that I never commit a sin, but I've been saved from disastrous sins that came my way and were very tempting and when I do sin He always lets me know that I have fallen short so that I can confess to my Father and seek to not repeat the experience. The Holy Spirit prays for me according to the will of God when I don't know how I should be praying and He intercedes on my behalf.

I make no claims on being anything other than a follower of Christ. To do so would be pretty bad, Paul warned us about saying we were of anything but Christ's. They did the same thing in the early church and He rebuked them. But without the Holy Spirit we don't even know God. Without Him we have no direction and we have no seal proving we are His. It is the Holy Spirit that gives us power to control our flesh, especially if we call upon it and use the power. If we fall it is our fault for we have been given the power to rise above. He is all we need to protect us and lead us, many of us just forget that He is in us and do our own thing and that's why we struggle so much

vital! I definately need direction, admonishment, comfort andencouragement...That is what the Holy Spirit gives me, and still so much more.

sounds crazy, but I guess in ways I am both evangelical and pentecostal...not really into labels and denominational ties.

The spirit is the purpose of life, or the recharging of. the method we incorporate our mental capabilities determines the rate of charge(if any) applied to our spirit and its susequent strength/ endurance. Think of a car your brain is the alternator. your spirit the battery and all mental fuctions the electridal devices

As a muslim I believe that , holy spirit is no one but archangel Gabriel, one of the mightiest angel. But again he is nothing more than an obedient servant of God. To belive that he helps us or save our lives is a form of polytheism. Only God does that.
This is just a sincere effort to convey what we muslims believe about holy spirit, not to hurt anyone

How important? He helps me with just living my life. He comforts me, convicts me, teaches me, helps me, discerns for me, give me joy, peace, true happiness, blessings - He is God within me. I really can't put this all into words - I am so grateful to have the Holy Spirit - without Him I would be lost. Blessings to you and thanks for this post.
