I would have to agree with you.
It certainly does send a strong message to all other potential cop killers though doesn't it.
Did save alot of money though. No trial and we won't be footing the bill for this idiot in prison.
There were 9 members of the SWAT team shooting and each of them emptied their weapon.
Victim Dane? Victim?? This guy deserved to die a horrible death. He certainly was no victim.

What is the difference between 5, 10,20 or 68? If there are several officers involved in a shootout with a cold blooded killer who is trying to kill them then they(the police) are going to kill this person before he can as much as injure one of them. Point being if your going to kill someone whats the difference between 5 rounds and 68 rounds. Try it for yourself before you pass judgment. You and several other people are being shot at by a person. Do you really think you are going to keep track of how many rounds you are firing? At a time like that do you think someone is going to say "OK lets keep track of our shots and lets try to keep this thing under 20 rounds total" Further more what difference does it make? When it is a real life or death situation and it involves your life you wont care either.

Well... let's tell the whole story huh??
The "guy" that got pulled over shot the Deputy 8 times, point blank range, killing him instantly, and then went and shot his K-9 several times, killing him. This deputy was the dad to 3 small kids. Then he fled into the wooded area where he barricaded himself into a hole under an oak tree where he could pick off anyone if he chose to and he was armed to the teeth with 2 shotguns and several handguns...
Then a manhunt ensued, a swat team literally going shoulder to shoulder stepped on him, when they did this guy came half way out weapon in hand barrel pointed at them....
Policy usually states that an officer forced to use his weapon should do so and it stands to reason that it is deadly force. 10 swat officer's fired, instead of standing around debating who should take this guy out, and trust me, if you have the barrell of a gun pointed at you, your going to take the person out and make sure he's out.
I am glad that it was multiple swat members that fired. I know the toll it takes on an officer when it is only one on one... they know they had to kill someone... these guys at least don't know who actually killed him. That will help them deal with this situation.
Also, when an officer is taken out.. there is a great deal of emotion and a lot of quick action...
I remember a guy named Frank Earl Carr... Killed two officers in Tampa and a Florida Highway Patrol Trooper for no reason other then he was crazy...
I don't think it was excessive... I work with LEO.. I have seen it before..

Hi wesy6589,
LQQk I think he was shot 110 times. He shot a Deputy & a K9 dog and wounded another officer I believe. Saves the state & the tax payers money for someone that was just plain crazy to begin with. Yes it sounds crazy for the police to go to such extremes but that's the society we all live in these days. Have a good day & read about death row inmates

Whatever conclusion you arrive at, one should also factor in to this scenario that the bad guy was concealed and hiding in heavy bush and weeds. It's possible - just as you might see in the war movies where you cannot really 'see' the enemy, but you know he's there because he's shooting at you - that the police continued to pepper the weeds and shrubs without actually seeing whether they hit the target or not, but no one is going to want to walk up to the bushes unless pretty sure the bushes don't continue to shoot back.
Personally I'm not an advocate for either viewpoint. I wasn't there :)

Actually, 68 times seems about right...
20 officers probably each fired 4 shots or so...
We need them to get their aim up... that should have been 80 hits....

If it was one, and he then changed clip twice as he was shooting at him. Anyway, I don't think it matters to the victim if he was shot 10 or 68 or 200 times.

cop said in the paper this morning they fired 110 shots, hit him 68 times, only reason they didnt fire more is they didnt have more. I think there were multiple shooters with automatic weapons. Yeah i guess they got a little out of hand, so the lesson is don't shoot cops cause they got more guns.

Duhhh!
Did One officer shoot 68 times?
Two officers shoot 34 times?
Three officers shoot 22 times and one shoot 2?
Four officers shoot 17 times?
Five officers shoot 13 times and one 3?
500 officers, all shooting!
And ONLY 68 hit the target?
Pretty sh**tty accuracy, don't ya think?
OR did ONLY 68 officers shoot and each hit the target once?
Come back when you have it figured out.

it happens like that all the time. We are becoming out numbered by overstaffed [police forces and greedy politicians and we should keep an eye on the number of police shootings and how quickly even if they shoot an Innocent person the shooting is always ruled justifiable. Getting scared yet ???? You should be.
