Chromium Picolinate is a supplement that helps a great deal, as does Garcina Cambogia (sp?). Both help to stabilize blood sugar. Fluctuations in blood sugar levels feed our cravings for carbs.

Go for complex carbs. Whole grain bread, brown or wild rice etc...
If you MUST have something sweet go for a piece of fruit like an apple an orange or a banana. Even though they all have carbs, you will also be getting vitamins and fiber. The high fiber content will make your digestive tract work harder to digest hence negating the impact of the carbohydrates.

If you are craving, you will eventually give in. So have some, just eat plenty of veggies with it. As you decrease the amount of carbs you eat the craving will die down as well. Remember a diet is a change in your eating habits not a holiday from your normal routine. It needs to be sustaining and eating should be enjoyable. So break the addictions to mountains of fats and carbs and tame them into respectable presences in you meals.
