You would not like it if an invading army came into your land and tried to change your way of life. The Taliban is the resistance. They have a cause and we are fighting against that as much as we are fighting the actual Taliban. As we kill one Taliban we create 2 to replace them. We are fighting against an idea and idea's are hard to change.

I'm sure that they could do it but at a huge price. Winning a guerrilla war in a mountainous place like that is brutal. Ask the British and the Russians. The trick would be to get the Afghani people to rise up and throw those brutal fanatics out of their country and/or kill them. Easier said than done, I guess.

Boss, welcome to the world of Assymetric Warfare. As the name suggests, it is warfare between unequal people. And that is why the ground rules of each side is different. So, to defeat them, you need to get down to playing by their rules. If you go by conventional logic, and rely on your technological superioirty to crush the stone age Taleban, you will not succeeed - ask the Soviets
The terrain in Afghanistan dictates a manpower intensive cliff to cliff fight, which is what will have to be undertaken to pull the critters out of their caves and kill em all.
Or maybe you pump in SO much of money into Afghanistan that it becomes unprofitable for them to fight you.

Crush "little Taliban". Well, they are not that little. They are little in army but large in ideology with all Afghans. It is the same Afghan working with and for the U.S/NATO who shots at them. Working for U.S./NATO in the day, and at night firing mortars at their bases. Part time Taliban. YOU CAN'T FIGHT an IDEOLOGY with just an army. It takes YEARS showing people that we are there to help and not to show of our military might.

We did defeat them back in 2001 when they all went running. Now they are returning though in big numbers and causing problems for us over there. Dont worry though it wont be long before they are taken care of.

It's not about a "war on terror", "fighting for freedom", or "the Taliban". It's REALLY all about THIS!...

Why are you unable to eradicate all the cockroaches in your neighborhood?
Why can't you kill every ant on your block?
That's why we've been unable to obliterate the Taliban.
