I usually buy her good quality presents (as she does me), but lately she hasn't been treating me with the respect I deserve. She keeps making sarcastic comments about my clothes and passes judgment. I really don't feel she 'deserves' anything from me this year, but I might feel guilty if I don't. What should I do? I bought a car recently that took me 8 years to save up for and when I showed her a photo of it she looked surprised and just said, "Oh, a red one". I really just want to get her a card this year and that's it, because I haven't liked the way she has treated me of late. Do I sound un-christian-like?

She is obviouslly unhappy with her life at the moment and is jealous that your's seems to be going so well. Instead of buying her an individual gift, why not buy her something you can share together..... Theatre tickets, a spa day, or even just a massage. Try and look past her current negativity and offer her a supportive ear. If she doens't want to talk or remains negative towards you then leave her a lone for a while. Some friendships don't last a lifetime - they have a time spam as we each change the develope in different ways. Don't keep a negative friendship with someone just because you once liked them.

Buying presents is not a requirement to being Christian. Thats not what Christmas is about for you guys anyways. And if your friend is not acting like a friend, why buy her something? Also its a long way away until Christmas, you guys might patch things up, or break off the friendship by then.

It's still early yet and you have a few months to decide, if I were you I wouldn't get her anything, but then again would you feel horribly guilty if she got you something great? If you don't get her anything then it's an obvious sign that the friendship is over, so if thats what you want then no, don't get her anything.

She sounds like the green eyed monster is rearing its ugly head - is your life going better than hers?

Perhaps dont spend as much this year (you have a car to keep on the road now!), but a token prezzie should still say something, without causing offence.

Ho Ho Ho!

You need to talk to your friend and be honest with her.She probably doesn't realise that she is treating you this way.Don't jeopardise your friendship just because of this, friends can work things through. If you don't get your friend a present, then you would be just as bad as her.If you are a Christian ask yourself what would Jesus do?

I don't think you sound un-Christian like. You sound like a young lady who has a friend that is behaving like a snob.

people dont always realize that we are really proud and happy to "show off" something and is important for us to feel appreciated... and they dont know that theyve hurt you... if the car was the only reason you felt really bad, i think you should give her a present.
