What you mean "we," Kimosabe? Many people genuinely like their work, although I suspect it is more the professionals and the self-employed than those who have jobs in the conventional sense. But for 16 years I worked as a legal secretary for two nice guys who were (still are) good lawyers and good bosses, and I looked forward to Monday mornings.

This Wednesday it will be one year since I was laid off from that job, and now I am retired. I took an 18-week course in Microsoft Office Suite and other computer programs, which made me realize that I could not compete with people half my age and half my weight, so I retired. Now I'm working on opening a bookstore. I can't think of anything I'd rather do. I will probably have to be forced to stay home if I ever get sick.
