I'm having a hard time with these people who say they'd volunteer/enlist IF the draft was reinstated. What's stopping you from doing it now? It's like quitting your job because your boss is about to fire you--pointless.
If it were me, I guess I'd suck it up and go. Though honestly, I don't see how any contribution I could give in a uniform is greater than the one I provide as a supportive wife of a combat soldier.

Well, I filled out my draft card when I was 18...*yes I'm a girl* And I would be more than happy to fight for my country but I can't now, I have 3 children and My husband is Active duty... They couldn't and wouldn't draft me... But if they could I sure as hell wouldn't run... I'd do anything for my country...I want my children to have a good FREE life...

Draft for this war would be wrong, just like the viet nam conflict was.Drafting for wwll was right because our freedom was threatened. Not the same now. I have a son 22. I'd shoot him myself if he got drafted.(in the leg or somewhere) Draftees get sent to the front lines to catch bullets. We're not fighting for our freedom. We are using Iraq to get a stronghold in the middle east.

This is why I have such a profound respect for all of our military. The pain of leaving my children behind would be to much for me to bear, just the look in my youngest sons eyes when I go to the store. And the new moms who go off...(and dads) to protect our counrty, and our freedom ..brings tears to my eyes. Brave in so many ways, hats off!!! I would be devestated , but I would not run or hide. But everybody in life has a purpose. Some of us are the rock our families stand on and we have to hold it down on the home front, some of you are the rock our country stands on and the world...Proud of you guys and gals. Much Love and Respect FOR REAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm probably too old to be drafted...
I hope so, at least. They don't need older guys running around in the field somewhere, panting from their lack of breath, due to beer bellies.

I wouldn't be drafted, I would have volunteered anyway (As I'm in the military in reality). I feel it is my duty as a citizen and patriot to serve my country, and see it as an honour.

Report for duty, what else?
I'm already in the Army, so I'll never have to worry about being drafted.

I would refuse to go. This country would probably not have sufficient justification for the draft. We might even be worse than the countries that we fight.
