This may come as a surprise to those of you not living in Las Vegas, but there are more Catholic churches there than casinos. Not surprisingly, some worshipers at Sunday services will give casino chips rather than cash when the basket is passed.
Since they get chips from so many different casinos, the churches have devised a method to process these offerings. The churches send all their collected chips to a nearby Franciscan Monastery for sorting and then the chips are taken to the casinos of origin and cashed in.

Off the cuff; that comes as big surprise to me, however being raised catholic, it does well to make a bit of senseto me. Also, I don't know if gambling is a sin, but if it is, for the churches part; :is that not akin to accecpting money from ANY ill-gotten gain. Additionally, if I may; that could be a great system of gaining money without taxation, plus take into account that any person who felt "guilt" with respect to any activity they had engaged in (in that wonderful town) would/could receive absolution.
Particularly from a catholic stand-point.

Ha! walk away when it it comes time for collection! They spend all that money on their pastor's paycheques!!! lol. It's true though! Homeless people deserve some! I work as a cleaner at a homeless shelter, and I feel so bad for them! I give my collection to them there instead! It is not a joke, but think about it..
