I know this may sound a bit OTT, but if your boy does join this group, pls make sure all the staff have been police checked and can prove this too you........

My son wants to join our local boys brigade after the holidays?

It usually has local groups so check the yellow pages or even your son's school. There is a waiting list which may be months long and children under a certain age cannot join. If he is too young, try Beavers which is like pre-Boys Brigade. Both my older sons joined years ago and loved it.

A slightly outdated organisation as opposed to the scouts etc but they very much have their hearts in the right place and of course it all depends on what group his friends are in...

He will have fun, be motivated and entertained although with a slight Christian leaning... if you are happy with this then you're on to a very safe bet.

Find out where the group meets and take him along to see what it's all about and if you're happy for him to be a part of it. My cousin goes and he enjoys it.
