Hello, I have been asked to make a presentation on an event or issue for my school's club that hasn't been televised much or is not very well known in the public eye.
Basically, the club is looking for social/political issues...

Any suggestions?

I wanted to present the "rainbow movement/march" that martin luther king jr. was going to lead before he was shot, but I can't find any information on it. It was supposedly a new movement that King wanted to do to unite all walks of life: white, black, asian, hispanic, etc... into a common goal for change.

However, I can't find any information on that movement at all. Can anyone lead the way?

The Matebeleland massacres by the fifth brigade in Zimbabawe. It happened in the early 80s, is rearly heard about. Over 20000 people were estimated to have been murdered. It was both a politically and ethnicially charged assualt and encapsualtes issues such as poverty. It is still relevance today with Mugabe remeining leader of Zimbabwe.

I am afraid that I cannot give you any particulars on Dr. King's proposed march except to say that emboldened by the great success of the 1963 March on Washington the great American hero wanted a march that would call attention to the many things that troubled the nation at the time of his death.
Dr. King drew a lot of criticism from black and white leaders because of his strongly held opinions on the evil of the Vietnam War. Many people who once supported Dr. King felt that he should stick to civil rights issues and leave the first war that the US ever lost alone. Dr. King had too much integrity to not be moved by issues other than civil rights. Dr. King was also aware of the harm capitalism did to the environment and to the lives of the poor of all races. That might be a potential subject for your project: the focus on Dr. King as a 'one-trick pony', rather than examining his dedication to a far better world than the one we now live in.

I just saw an author speak about King, Taylor Branch. He's just published his third book on King, for a total of about 3000 pages! I'd look there first after googling it. I know he was in Memphis because of a worker's issues, not specifically race issues, so investigating that tragic visit may yield clues.

If you're still looking for suggestions, I'd cover the grave harm of mother-infant separation which is actively covered up by the media and forced on many women and children by the government.

how about the rampant fraud in the 2004 presidential elections? That got very little play by the 'liberal' media.
