Early Christians were a minority in Roman occupied Israel. It was not safe or productive to fight the Romans based on losing one's temper. Jesus promoted non-violent resistance similar to Mahatma Gandhi.
Of course this changed once Christianity became the official religion of Rome. Then it became the symbol and justification by which one army would fight another. Constantine claims to have had a vision of the cross prior to a great military victory.
Have I practised this? I have felt anger against or a kind of pity for bullies, I never thanked or blessed them, I did not curse them either. It's hard to bless the person sticking a compass into your leg.

Wake up and look around. You have never been persecuted. You get into a disagreement with a few people and say that you're being persecuted because it makes you feel superior because persecution is in the bible.

During those times the christian were badly persecute by the authority like in parts of China today too. Under those circumstances, the christian being tha minority, its easy to fall away or turn around & wanting to lass out. Paul wanted them to have a change in their attitude, to value humilty, patience, faith & trust in God as their vindicator.

Yeah! That's the stuff! This is what I keep trying to tell people about, but NOOOooo. These mixed-up people keep trying to purse those who blessicate them and all kind of other stuff except for the REAL deal which is this!
Do another one about Judge Not. That's a good one too.
And if you can find something nice from the Koran, that would also help. thanks.

oh yes, when i was going through it with my youngest sons grandparents. they tried to get my son taken away from me actually they managed to do that for three days. and then the Lord had them return them back to me due to lack of evidence. and all while i was tormented that my babies were taken due to me being disabled and they said i fall down am not capable of caring for my kids. the devil is a liar. anyway i was so angry i did pray for them i prayed with a hurting in my stomach. as bad as i wanted revenge on them myself all i did was pray and ask the lord to bless them. my other self before i was born again would have plotted on some evil trickery, but i knew that verse that the lord said vengeance is mine saith the Lord and where he was speaking on when your adversary falls i not rejoice lest it angers the Lord and he turns his wrath on me. i am cool

Yes, I practise it but sometimes we fall, nothing wrong with it as long as you go on your knees and ask for forgiveness. Nobody is perfect, and God knows that.
