....ever seen marijuana ruin someone's life? (i mean its use, not going to prison for it)

Has anyone witnessed the 'evil' power of pot? or any harmful effects it has on a body?

Then why is it so controversial to use it for medical treatment, or even just for enjoyment?

Reuben,

true the D.A.R.E. program that go to schools to teach kids about drugs is actually just to lie to the kids, and to teach them to narc on their family and friends, doesn't it sound like the book,"1984"?

James your friend sounds more like a coke addict. he probably never told you about ventures with cocaine or some other drug, because you DON'T have withdrawal symptoms from marijuana, your body CAN'T get dependent on it, it is only a psychological addiction, not physical, like placebos

I can honestly say that I have seen it ruin someone's life. I had a best friend who used it once or twice a year - and that in my eyes was fine. Then, when we all moved in together, she began smoking it every day. Now, she was a mother of three teenage kids. She began to not care about her personal hygene, not care that the house needed cleaned, not care about the feeding and raising of her three kids. In fact, she began smoking weed with her two older children and found it acceptable that they didn't attend school and hung out with a really bad crowd of kids. Her drug use of only marijuana played a huge part in the break up of our friendship. I also found that during the time that she was heavily smoking, she got sick much fast than anyone else and it usually lasted longer and was worse than others. So, while an occational toke won't kill you - I think excessive use can be really bad for you and for your life.

The only lives I have seen ruined are my children. The schools team up with the police to brainwash them into believing that pot and alcohol use will cause hair to grow on your palms, your teeth will rot, and you will become a brain dead vegetable. They even teach them to turn in friends and family to the police if they suspect any drug use. It seems that our government wants all children to grow up to be good Nazis. What ever happened to sticking up for family and friends? I was taught that they are always to be protected and that squealers were the lowest form of life.

I have witnessed and experienced negative effects. A very close friend of mine became very withdrawn because of marijuana. His paranoia was awful, he almost became a social phobic.

I myself smoked too much as a student and it really screwed my head up for a couple of years. My studies and social life suffered.

Having said that, I had a great time as well. We were stoners though, and although occasional use is fine heavy use really isn't.

for medical purpouses I think its used for pain reasons, not for recreational use.
When its used for recreational use it is usually taken with alchol and not when you are in a bed of pain. People that smoke it for medical purpouses dont tend to ''over do it'' like some people that do it for recreational use.

I have seen it ruin lives because of people that got arrested for having it on them, not so much smoking it. It can lead to other stuff though if someone wants to experiment with other drugs.
I have also heard about people who have died because of the pot being laced with other chemicals.

Its true when they say it can fry your brain, not litterally but does change the cells of it.
