I adopted two female kittens about 3 months ago, when they were 10 weeks old. The first kitten is now about seven pounds, while her sister is not even two pounds! She was a runt when I brought her home, but she has hardly grown at all. I have taken her to the vet several times, but we can find nothing physically wrong with her. She is just small. She is completely normal in bone structure (no signs of dwarfism), and she is actually kind of fat for her frame, but she is just tiny in stature. Has anyone else ever experienced anything like this?

Cats, like people and power bills, come in all sizes.

Some kitty cats can be HUGE ... we have two 19-pounders and cats over 22 pounds are not that uncommon. In the same vein, some kitty cats can be SMALL ... we have several full-grown kitty cats who are significantly smaller than the rest of our herd. Since your kitty is still a kitten, she may just be a late bloomer .. just like those guys in high school who grow 6 inches over a summer! Just ensure that she is well-fed and cared for, and love her furry little paws!

(A small purrrrr for your small kitten.......)

my cat is almost 2 years old now and she is only a bit over 5 lbs..
she looked like a baby kitten for the longest time.. Sometimes I think it just takes longer for some cats to develope... but then again, my cat is still pretty small..
She's completely healthy though.. and I like the fact that she isn't a huge monster.. little kitties are the best kitties.. :)
spoil her, give her some fancy wet food.. and buy her those tarter control treats.. :)

My sister's kitty was only 4 pounds and then she had 5 kittens and now she's 6 pounds. Baby weight!

my cat is a runt as well, although not as small as yours. my vet advised me to feed him science diet or iams kitten chow until he was 1 1/2 rather than 1. the reason behind the specific brands is that they have more nutritional value than, say, meow mix or other mid-priced foods. i have seen a vast improvement in his weight gain. he's still skinny, but i can't count his ribs anymore!

and by the way, i chose science diet, and for my one cat, a 3.5 lb bag costs about $7.50, but it lasts for about 6 weeks. not bad!
