A Catholic priest in the US is under arrest and another is on the run after being accused of stealing millions of dollars from their parishioners.

Monsignor John Skehan, 79, was charged with grand theft, as Florida police searched for Father Francis Guinan.

The two men are suspected of stealing a total of $8.6m (£4.6m) from their Palm Beach church and funding a lavish life of property, holidays and gambling.

Because christians are too stupid they blindly give money over to these people and just assume its going to good use. Thats why the money also gets used to sponser christian terrorism in other nations under the guise of 'aid'

Now just a minute. How could this happen so easily? How can thousands of Evangelical Christians hand over millions every week to charismatic preachers who lead lavish lifestyles and not question where there money is going and to what end? When someone like these priests is skimming and being deceptive that's one thing. When they are as blatant as some Evangelicals and people still keep handing them money, that's the one to really wonder about.

They are flawed humans just like the rest of us. I feel bad for the people that put their trust in them on many levels.
I am surprised that they got away with so much. I thought organizations such as the church had treasurers and a board of directors that kept up with finances.
The Catholic church could certainly do without anymore scandal, but my heart is with those that trusted these men.

Well, it wouldn't be the first time that something like this has happened. All it means is that some people are crooks regardless of the clothing they wear.
Remember, also, that for every priest or minister who is caught in some crime that there are thousands who are faithfully serving their congregation.

What is the difference between this and anyone else stealing money and getting away?

Not that this is ok, but I'm more wondering why you think this is different than any other robbery.

Just because someone is trying to preach (I will say) does not make them a saint
