My wife called off from work last night as she was quite sick. She works midnight to midday and gave 4 hours notice. Anyway her boss seemed to get a real attitude problem and said she needed a "doctors note"..she never needed one before for "one" day off...even though company policy dictates 3 days. But she WILL go to the doc this morning. Her boss said well you have had too many sick days off...and that is "ONE too many" (she has had about 3 in the past 3 months)..2 of them were emergencies...her boss also said that if she can't do midnight shifts that she will re-evaluate her job...yet she has be doing the same shift for 3 years anyway

Now i don't know about you folks, but many of us can't help getting sick, and i don't think those comments were right at all. This woman seems to dislike my wife and hey that is fine...but to be threatened to lose your job because you are sick just doesn't seem right.

I suggested to my wife maybe she should talk to a lawyer, is that pushing it?

Contact an attorney. I was fired for being a "safety hazard" due to having brain tumor related seizures. Don't let your wife get walked on.

from what i know if your sick more them 3 maybe longer you might need a dr 's note but being off or it being an emergency thats no reason to threaten someone .and as long as your wife has a doctors note there is no way they can fire her if they do i would get a lawyer maybe her boss is jealous of her and is looking for a reason to get rid of her there are alot of a**hole bosses out there and they do alot of illegal thing to employees thinking they can get away with it that us people are stupid tell your wife to dont let her treat her disrespectful you cant get fired for telling your boss how you feel . good luck

Just get a Doctors note and she talk to her Boss in a peaceful manner. It is just depends on a company policy if she is right or wrong.

Its a bit early for a lawyer but actually legally they can't do anything. If they sack her for being ill then its unfair dismissale and you can take them to court. Obviously it looks better for your case if your wife hasn't had a history of lots of days off.
