My degree would be from USC(university of southern California) and I am planning to get my PE in next 3 years.
I have one mastres in Geothecnical engineering
and will have a PhD in structural engineering
Assume that I may not work in the direct area of my research.

You have got a degree in hand .I feel he monthly pay in INDIAwould start at about 20000 even if you deviate from your study

Err.. salary is quite depending on your jobscope and which country you work with. UN or US may have a good salary. But, 3rd world country is comparatively low.

Well, it is all depending on your explosure of working environment after your studies. Correct me if i am wrong that, working is very much different from studying. Getting a higher level of education may sometimes end up doing insurance agent in my country :) You may proceed with your first work and stay there for 2 years.

Salary wise will be quite underpaid in my country, you may try australia, uk, singapore, canada or US.
