I believe that term is much antiquated, and implys that you do believe in one form of religion or another...they just take it for granted that you believe and have a personal preferance, and profess your right to choose which ever one best suits you... I am not an avowed athiest, but do not choose any of the other recognized forms of christianity, either... SOOOOOOOO, I guess we are just sorta on our own, to a certain extent... Like you, I do not wish to impress my beliefs on anyone, and at this point in my life, do not really know what I truly do believe... Other than my beer is gone, and I gotta make a trip to the fridge... Later...

free to believe whatever you want. I totally agree with you. I'm not an atheist, but I don't go to church either. Everyone's always after me to go and I just feel like I'm living a better life than a lot of the hypocrites in church. By hypocrites I don't mean someone who makes mistakes that can be easily forgiven. I mean people who are constantly sinning and knowing they are doing bad, but continue to go to church just because they think God will forgive them. To me that's kind of like throwing God's religion back in his face, and I feel like I'm and honest person, don't drink, don't steal or do drugs, don't cheat and try not to judge other people before I know them, and that it's better not to go to church at all, than to be like the others I mentioned. I feel like God knows what's in people's hearts and isn't that the main thing that matters? Sorry I'm getting long winded so I'll end it now.

The freedom to either believe, or not believe, in whatever you want. So long as you cause no harm to others these freedoms should not interfere with another.

I think God himself believes as you do that we have a right to choose, and I think that should be done in an open forum not amongst gangsters who believe with out thinking they are right and people who think differently should be crushed by word or deed. Also we have a right in this existance not to choose. or not to be a good speller without others asserting their idea with regards to exactly how others should express themselves, unless they do it with some kind of manners so we can ignore them without feeling blasted

what do the words: "don't fence me in" mean to you? Same, but the reality is, men are territorial. Respect that. Especially those territories that have signs that say : "Trespassers will be shot."

We all want our place, and we all want respect. For the most part, this happens. It is not an unrealizable goal. However, practice is never perfect. Sometimes blood is spilt.

I believe in freedom of religion, freedom of thought and a plurality of ideas. Here's what I don't believe. I don't believe in equal validity of truth. You can believe anything you want and that's your right but that doesn't mean it's true. You say you're an atheist. That means you believe there is no God. Let me tell you what I believe. I believe that when we die we all go to the wonderful world of OZ where life is beautiful all the time, a land that is ruled by the omnipresent, omnipotent and omniscient Spaghetti monster. I have every right to believe in the spaghetti monster. I have no logical reason whatsoever to believe he exists. Likewise, you have every RIGHT to believe that God doesn't exist. You also have no LOGICAL REASON to believe that he doesn't exist. Logic and common sense tells us that he does exist.
Atheism is impossible to prove. You're trying to prove a universal negative. You're saying, 'I know for a fact there is no God anywhere in the universe'. How could you know that? You'd have to be able to search every little inch of the universe to prove that. Even that wouldn't prove anything because If you searched all of the universe I would just say that the reason you missed him is because when you were over here he was over there. You'd have to be in every inch of the universe at the same time. If you could do that you wouldn't prove that there wasn't a God you would prove just the opposite...namely, that there was a God because you would be God if you could be in every inch of the universe at the same time. Even if you could be in every inch of the universe at the same time I would just say that the reason you didn't find him was because you were looking in the universe and he is outside the universe. If God created the universe he would have to be outside of it since he existed before the universe even existed, having created it. Athiesm is utterly impossible to prove. It's not only impossible to prove , it's implausible to believe. The fact is, everywhere you look in the universe there is design. Where there's design there must be a designer. That's just common sense. You can call that designer whatever you want to call him. I call him God. Anyone who could design a universe would have to be a God. Life only comes from already existing life. It does not come from non-life. Louis Pasteur proved that back in 1800. They call it the Law of Bio-Genesis. That's is a scientific law. It says basically that life always comes from already existing life and that Like produces Like(dogs produce dogs, horses produce horses, humans produce humans, ape produce apes....).That law is not non-falsifiable. It could be disproven. All you would have to do is find one example to the contrary either today or any time in past history. Nobody has ever done that. What we see is that life always comes from already existing life. It never comes from dead chemicals. To quote Dr. Louis Bounoure, Director of the Zoological Museum and Director of Research at the National Center of Scientific Research in France,"evolution is a fairy tale for adults".
If you want to believe in atheism or if you want to believe in the spaghetti monster or evolution, I have no problem with that. Just don't try and force your views on me or my kids as they do in todays public schools.

to me it means I can believe any way I want to. Even if I dont believe anything at all, that's STILL a "belief" and I am entitled to it.

Not that I force my religion on anyone....but might I ask...

why when you tell people how much your faith has meant in YOUR life...do people who are NOT of your faith say that you are pushing?

Can one not speak of their faith at all?

For example.... you say that you are an atheist...ok, how has that helped you in your life?

If I tell you about how MY faith has helped in my life... why is that pushing.

And IF something has helped one in their life...(let's say instead of faith it's...vitamins, or counseling, or exercise) why is it considered PUSHING if they tell others that they would hope for THEM that they would find it's benefits too?

I would think if you aren't interested you would simply say, that's nice, I'm happy for you. But no thank you, I'm at peace with how my life is."

That's not insulting, it's all a choice.
