Ok my son goes to his dad's house everyother weekend. Well today my son's father called me to pick our son up early, no big deal then he told me our son had a accident at the bowling alley were he split his finger wide open (4 stitches). Ok instead of taking him to the ER he wanted me to pick him up.(I made him go to the ER) Because he didn't have any insurance on him so he thought they wouldn't take him.
My question is is this really stupid for him to do call me instead of taking him to the ER and paying the bill.

They just waxed the floors (bowling alley) and our son was using a ten pound ball and he is only ten.

well i think that it was good that he called you to let you know, but stupid on his part because he should've be prepared for anything (like a trip to the er) to happen. if he's appointed by the court system to have insurance then he should have exactly that. i know alot of people aren't insured because it's too expensive, but if he doesn't and that happened, then he should have to pay the outright bill. if anything he could've gotten the bill and given the insurance info later (that way you wouldn't have had to go all that way). i'd definately bring this up in the next custody hearing too. he should've been more responsible and told him to get a lighter ball so he is partly at fault, and he isn't adhearing to the courts appointments.

no its not stupid if you have insurence and he doesent you should take him, it probably cost him about 400$ or more and you could have did it for a 25$ copay wich im sure hed be happy to pay its not like he cut his finger off, 4 stitches is not wide open hun, i have had 13 in my finger and it really doesnt even bleed that bad, you just seem to have animosity towards your ex, give him a break, and if you dont like it, let him pick up the insurence, sorry if this sounds rude but there are alot more important things to worry about

What does it matter who has the insurance on him? The insurance is on the child-not on the parent. If you have insurance on him he should have been able to take him-you should talk about that with him incase of another emergency-nothing is more important than your childs health! But no you are not mad for no good reason-but a little communication could have prevented the situation. Good luck!

He should have taken the child to the ER, he at least SHOULD know the name of his insurance company and his employer, the hospital would more than likely accepted that until he could get home and phone in the rest of his information. The child's father obvioulsy panicked and acted, in my opinion, stupid

i think of you probably did okay and he or she'll probable touch you a while. yet whilst that became the 1st time you ever observed her she would have been somewhat taken lower back once you gave her your quantity and email. She could be thinking over what to declare.

Maybe he just panicked and his first rational thought was to call the person who usually deals with these types of situations - the mother!

Give him a break - afterall, he's only a man ;-)

court order means that he HAS to carry insurance on his child-- take him back to court and they he can explain to the judge why he doesn't carry it on your son-- its called responsibility ,, if he has a job your son needs things and one is insurance to take care of him not just accidents but when he gets sick

Why add stress to your life? You already have a poor dear child raised in a broken family. Focus your energy on making up for that.
