As with adults, some do and others don't. My son was modest always in a head down facing my back position, and I know from the ultrasounds and his lack of movement. I used to wonder if he died in utero. Since he's been born though he's totaly gone the other way. He'll just pull his pants down and pee wherever he is even on a main road, if he needs to.

Don't talk much? I'd say don't talk at all. Duh! But they do feel pain. Hear their mother's voice. Hear some outside noises that are close to their mother and loud. They hear their mother's heartbeat. They breath and move and can suck their tiny thumbs and touch their tiny feet. Unborn babies are cool and cute!

Remember, you were once a fetus. Do you talk more now? Are you more intelligent now? Are you hiding something now?
