this is where everyone is wrong, writing it has nothing to do with speaking it, it is alot harder to write then speak and i am refering to speaking becasue thats what ESL is apeaking not writing

I agree, Before i go holidaying to a country, i learn some of their language as basic courtesy, I say hello in their language and smile to the citizens of where i am holidaying in,
Why can't they have the same courtesy for the land that they are illegally making their own home.
When i am in the shopping center,
i don't want to hear "me no speak englisee" & then the checkout workers feeling uncomfortable,
YOU shouldn't even be here in the first place, learn some english for courtesys sake!

Why are Americans so afraid of other languages anyway? Is it so bad to learn more than just English? I have no problem, at all, with English being recognized as the official language, but it doesn't hurt to be able to understand others. In my personal opinion, the more, the better! (Not to mention the fact that It looks great on resumes! =D) With the way things are going, someday we might have to be bilingual in America to get a decent job.
Regarding your EFL question..... it does exist, just not with that name. Most of us know it as English class. We take it from grade school to college.

Uh, English is EFL! You complain: you think they should learn our language, they have esl you complain: that they shouldn't have it. Make up your mind about it. Or, just admit that it is racism that drives your hatred. We all know that's what it is. Nobody complained in the 80s and 90s when we had a flood of illegal Canadians come "steal" jobs in the healthcare field. Just get over your hate and learn to accept your fellow Americans from south of the border.
Yes, for those of you who have not ever seen a geography book, Mexico is part of the Americas.

Calling a group of people lazy bums is not an insult? Other than the immigration issue, most illegals are not criminals. Think about it - they are already here illegally. If they are found out they will be deported.
The responsible parties are the Mexican government and American business. The Mexican economy cannot provide for these people or their families and Americans hire them. Until that changes all the biatching in just pi*sing into the wind.
The 'Wall' will never be built. That's just an election bunch of crap to get votes (you know, it's not always easy to get racist hatemongers to the polls, what with all the wife-beating and bestiality they've got going on at home).
After next month, you will not here about the wall until 2008, and it will just as much BS then as it is now.

Ha ha ha ha !!!! chinese language is more suitable sturdy to study tho"........ community hospitals are overflowing with English talking human beings attempting to study chinese language in simple terms so that they are in a position to flow to Beijing. they have filled their brains so complete that they are in a position to't take anymore. they have not slept pondering October. Many seem as if they have Alzheimers. they in simple terms stand contained in the door way and allow it flow...and then they damage out laffin and muttering jibberish.... examining chinese language can thieve you reminiscence....a million/2 an hour later you're hungry again. it quite is infectious...the Olympics in Beijing ...each and all and sundry needs to study chinese language. i might want to quite eat chinese language nutrition...same result...a million/2 an hour later...you're hungry again. Fried Lice, Odessa....!!!! ?????

This is more of a rant and less of a question.
For someone who purports to encourage the proper use of the English language, you have a lot to learn.

And there *is* a class for English speakers that's aimed at natural speakers of English. It's called..... English. You'll find it in most elementary schools, high schools, and colleges. Go figure.

They are learning to be like us. That's why we HAVE ESL. To teach them ENGLISH. If you moved to China, would you make sure you were completely fluent and literate in a Chinese dialect, or would you learn enough to get by and then learn more when you got there?
Seeing as these immigrants (who aren't always illegal, Mr. I-Stereotype-Everybody) are often too poor to provide for themselves and thus immigrate to this country to find work and support themselves and their families, they don't exactly have the disposable income to hire an English tutor prior to entering our country.
And yes, English class IS essentially english as a first language. I learned to write, read, and speak English in my English classes. Then I learned all the advanced parts of being able to write, read, and speak English in....MORE ENGLISH CLASSES.

I agree with you, if people are going to live in our great country then they should learn the language. We shouldn't have to put voting materials in multiple languages.
But unless English is made the official language of the USA we are stuck with some of these situations. At least though we should give credit to those who earnestly want to learn our language and attend the ESL classes.

You are correct..... ESL should not be tolerated... nor encouraged.... I personally think it is wrong, it is anti-America.... it is treason....
Illegal aliens should be immediately arrested, branded, and deported.... ignorance of English is a dead give away....
Catering to illegal aliens who speak that backwards language called Spanish, is an act of treason.... It sickens me to see companies asking that job applicants speak Spanish.... that is a dead give away that they are hiring ILLEGAL ALIENS.... but,
I did see an ad that stated that PROOF of being legally eligible to work in the USA is required to work for one company... that is something that should be required by all US companies....
The tide is turning.... America will return to America..... the CRIMINALS will be on the run....
