Lets say you're shopping at the grocery store and see an average family of a mother, a father, and a young boy and girl. Would you silently pray in your head for the son (and only the son)? why or why not? Would you willing walk up to the parents and ask if you could pray for their son (and only the son)? why or why not?
Now lets say you're shopping in the same store and you see a family about the same. A mother, a father, a little girl and her young brother who is noticeably handicapped. Would you willingly walk up to the parents and ask if you could pray for their son? Would you silently pray for the boy in your head without approaching the family? Would you be more likely to pray for the boy in this situation than the other? and what about the daughter? why or why not? {{Be Honest}}
I know this is a lot of questions but it's something I come across a lot of in my life and I would like to know your opinion. thanks

The girl is me and the handicapped boy is my brother. Random people often come up to my family and ask permission to pray for him. I always feel weird when this happens. He needs to be prayed for as much as any other boy. He loves life and is the healthiest out of us all. Why should anyone feel sorry for him?

I would probably be more likely to pray for the handicapped boy just because it is human to notice more when someone is different. Once I noticed, as a Christian, I would feel compelled to pray for the boy. Although this may not make the most sense it is how I feel most people would work. Now that you have asked this question I hopefully I will try to remember to pray for random people just because not necessarily due to some obvious distress. God Bless you.

The short answer I'll offer to your question is that I frequently pray for people I see walking down the street or at the mall or wherever even if I don't know them, and usually what I pray is that the Lord would get their attention and show them their need for Him if they don't already know Him, and that He would make Himself irresistible to them so that they would choose to follow Him. That's what He wants for everyone anyway. As for other details of how I would pray for someone, it would depend on the situation or whatever the Lord was leading me to do.

yes its not abnormal I have seen people i have prayed for but silently in my mind. God knows . But i wouldn't go up to that person and tell them so. First they may feel its weird or they may think you feel sorry for them. Or that your a bible thumper could be many reasons. But nothing wrong with you praying for people. I do it all the time. for strangers i have never met but are in a bad way. Or something has happened to them. Or know they could use a little help. or just to keep them safe or happy in lives.
what ever your reason god listens and knows who your praying for.

I suppose if I believed there was a magic old man in the sky waiting to grant me wishes, I might pray for the son.

You have to know the boys name
in order to pray for him.
So I say I would ask the parents first.

I'm here to tell you--I fell those times a lot. But, some of the time, God nudges me (ever-so-gently) if He wants me to speak up to the family, or boy, or whatever.
And, yes, I would tell them I was praying for their son, if that's what I feel God is telling me to do.
God directs my speech a LOT, because I have given Him control of my life.
Sooo Peaceful,...............

i would definitely (and have done this). but the spirit of God will tell you at that moment exactly that that exact person needs your prayer. he does not tell you why, but you know that if you don't than that person will get their blessing from someone else. but you will not be blessed for not doing it. God only blesses those who bless others.
