I don't care what people do in their own homes, but now it's coming into my home. I have a 2 year old, and I don't want this affecting her health or mine. How should I handle this situation? They just moved in a few weeks ago, and they keep to themselves.

WOW. A lot of the responders to this question are telling you to call the cops. Do you enjoy a beer once in a while? If you do, then you'd be a terrible human being to follow that advice. I agree with some of the more sensible responders, just let them know. Potheads are laid back people, they arent trying to offend you. If you knock on the door and tell them directly, without sounding authoritative, that the smell is leaking into your abode, they'll take it out to the balcony, I promise

keep in mind, if you do call the police, its not like these guys are getting a traffic ticket. Most likely probation, possibly real time. Do you want that on your conscience? Is the beer you drink with your buddies so different from the joint your neighbors smoke to relieve stress?

Well, to begin with, I'm feel sorry for you, living in such close quarters with another that you share the same ventilation system. So much that you feel your child is going to harmed by a simple herb. I could understand feeling the need to call the cops over a neighboring meth-lab, but over pot? Some people.....

I guarantee 100% if you tell him that the smell is ventalting though all the apartments he will never smoke in there again. That would scare the crap out of me. Tell him that the neighbors have been talking about weed smell coming from somewhere close by

Do not confront them directly because they could try to retaliate if you have to wind up getting a third party involved. Tell the landlord that smoke is coming into your apartment and you and your child are being exposed to it. Emphasize that you want your privacy protected and if the problem is not quietly solved, you will expect to be released from the lease. I agree with the last poster. Calling the cops is a bit extreme in that they probably are not aware the smoke is affecting you. Some pot smokers are polite and considerate. Some are not. let the landlord intervene Good luck.

Become friends with them. It may be hard to. If you are a Christian remember Christ died for the ungodly. He wants us to love all people and to judge rightious judgement. Introduce yourselves and get to know them. Let them know the same day that you don't mind them doing it as long as it doesn't interfere with your life. And since it does, politely ask them if there may some way you can work out the problem. Remember, don't ever threaten police notification for something like pot. Unless they do you some evil way, try to work out the problem between yourselves in a neighborly manner. I am of the opinion that weed is not of God, but love your neighbor.

are you kidding me? what has this society come too? tell your pot smoking neighbor what is going on. we should always try to work things out amongst ourselves before turning to others unless you feel like you are in danger.

I would speak to your landlord ,and tell noone you did this and ask them for your protection, not to say who complained ,maybe you and landlord could set it up, for you to call and they can pass by that apt and smell it and handle it there selfs .I dont blame you I would first go to land lord and if the smell is that strong then they can catch it and give them a warning ,good luck

Report them to the cops... you should not put up with it and its not healthy for you or your family. Most of the time going to the property managers is a waste of time... they're not going to loose income (rent) unless they cant help it. Forget reasoning with the pot smoker.

Call the police. It's against the law to smoke pot.

Approach them, and tell them that you don't want to have to alert the authorities, but that you are worried for your child. Ask them to smoke somewhere else, or you will call the cops. I'm sure they'd oblige.
