You probably ought to take him to the doctor and have it checked out. There are so many things that might cause something like that. One possibility that came to my mind was anxiety or panic attack. When I have intense anxiety at night, my chest hurts in certain spots and I feel like I can't get enough air to breathe.

He may have asthma or even pnuemonia.

I had pneumonia two months ago, in the middle of that heat wave that swept the nation. I had chest pain on the left side but I didn't think much of it until a few days later when my entire body felt like I got hit by a truck. Went to doc, they did a CT scan, and I had pneumonia in the lower-left lobe of my lungs.

Whatever it may be, best bet is take him to the doc for a quick look.

Try a menthol rub, some warm milk and keep an eye on him. It could be anxiety about something and it could get worse if he is worrying about it or sees that you are...if it doesnt settle see a Dr to rule out anything serious.

well first you need to go to the dr there is no reason to ask abunch of people on yahoo anout that its not like there is a doctor on here just waiting for you to ask a question, take your son to his dr. period, dont sit here and wait on abunch of no ones to give you abunch of BS answers that are probly gonna be wrong any way if you love your son take him in to get checked out by a medical professional, dont just sit around till it gets soooo bad you got to rush him to the emergency room i the middle of the night and have him catch something even worse then what he might have!
I hate these questions like this!
