I gave up 11 weeks ago!!
I chewed 2 gums a day for 2 weeks as well as the patches
now i still use the patches & just chew pk etc
The real secret is you really have to want to quit.
I used to think ( just out of habit ) i will go & have a smoke!! then i would say to myself I DON'T SMOKE anymore.
Like the fact that you will be FREE from them, that the extra money is good & the health benifets as well. the feeling i used to get in my mouth when i needed a smoke was always there really even after i had a smoke so knowing that helped a lot.good luck
tell yourself you can do it,because you really can

A massive heart attack at 37 did the trick for me. My rca was blocked at 99%. My bad cholesterol was 138 and my good was too low because I smoked. I now have a stent in my artery. When I left the hospital and returned home and realized that even the clean clothes in the dresser and closet smelled like an ashtray, I quit.
The drug Wellbutrin helps, meditation, and hypnosis. There are many support groups for smokers, look in your local paper. Good luck, you will be surprised how much quiting frees up your life. You no longer have to keep up with a pack of cigarettes and a lighter, you can pick up on scents easier and food taste better. And you will be able to breathe deeper.
Taking up a hobby can help, go for a brisk walk when you want to light up.

Blessings )O(

Its not just the nicotine. Its also the other 50+ chemicals they out in cigarettes. Also the main problem is habit.
We have been used to having body sensations which we translate as 'my body needs something, which we have attempted to satisfy by having a cigarette.
When we try to stop smoking, we still get these 'my body needs something' sensations, and we still feel that we want a cigarette. We have to train our body to be more selective. When we feel we need something, we have to work out what it is that we actually need.
A glass of water is an excellent substitute if nothing else comes to mind, as it helps with the clearance of the toxic substances in our body. Another good substitute is a bag of salted peanuts, used in combination with the water.
Another thing to do is to find an activity which occupies the mind or body. Go swimming - nobody wants to smoke while they are swimming. Slowly, as our body adjusts and translates the 'want something' feelings into something other than cigarettes, then the feelings begin to go away. We know its not a cigarette that the body really needs, because as soon as we've had one we still have the feeling, and want another!

I am Christian. and I used to smoke. I quit two years ago.

How I did it? Just stop. Don't try "cutting down". Just stop. Totally. Get over the cravings and cold turkey and just stop.

Its actually quite simple, but just need lots of will power and help from God.

Whenever you feel like giving up, remember :

Philippians 4:13
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

I used to smoke for many years. I decided to quit cold turkey. It was hard for a long time, but I was determined to overcome it and I did. Continue to pray to the Lord.

I told God in a fit of PURE STRIFE--"God, I WANT to quit smoking",, and I PROMISE you, it's been over 20 years.
Cold turkey.

When YOU make up your mind to quit , you can do it. I'm FOR your quitting. Food tastes better, you don't cough , or cough up green stuff, you can make a flight of stairs better,.............do I need to go on?
