...just chunk it in the trash like the everything else. Is that sinful? Would it be more of a sin for believer or a non-believer to trash a Bible?

It's just a question folks...even though I don't put as much stake in it as a lot of people, my Bible's right here on my desk and not going anywhere...

I realize an unwanted Bible could (or maybe should) be turned over to charity or a bookstore or even recycled if you really felt like it. I'm just asking about the sin part.

I have to think it's not sinful.

They do occasionally fall apart after all -- most books these days aren't physically made to last forever.

If I was just looking to get a newer one, and mine was still alright, I'd probably donate it to Goodwill or give it to someone who needed it, because that's what I generally do with my things, but I hardly think tossing out a tatty old Bible that's falling apart at the seams is a sin.

Tossing out is not necessarily defacing. Defacing is a whole other thing, which I think would be wrong.

Sin literally means in the original Bible translations "to miss the mark".

Romans 3:23: for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

So, according to the Bible we are all sinners in that we fail to meet up to the standards of God. The act of throwing away the Bible in and of itself isn't a sin. After all, any particular Bible could become so worn that it's unusable. However, sin could come into play when throwing away the Bible based on your motivation or heart condition at the time. This could separate us further from God:

Isaiah 59:2 But your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden his face from you, so that he will not hear.

No , Even though I am not a very religious person I can easily tell you that if you are a religious person then you carry it in your heart not in a very heavy book . If you no longer want the bible or simply has become old then I feel that it is ok to throw it away. If you feel guilty maybe you can give it away and have someone use it or if its in bad condition maybe you can recycle it .

It would certainly be disrespectful to throw a Bible in the trash, but the written Word of God gets tossed out or recycled all the time by churches who use missals to follow the readings.

I believe in being respectful toward the Bible. My own Bible stays on top of reading material, always on top with nothing on top of it, out of respect. If a Bible is worn and you want to throw it away, instead give it away to your church, or a donation box such as Goodwill.

I'm not a good person, but I think it is ok to either trash it, or take it to a religious place for disposal.
The belief is not IN the book, it's just a thing, (well thing is the wrong word, no hate please.)
I mean the message is alive; not held in the book.

You would be sooooooo wrong of doing that, I think personally that since if you'd thrown it away, You wouldn't find yourself in the Book of Life (The Bible) on the Judgement day, you'd be thrown away from God's presence forever. If you allready read your bible you can donate it to your library or someone who would love to have it but is too poor because he/she lives in third world country!

I binned a bible. Some local church distributed free bibles throughout the village where i live. Had 1 left outside my door. It was December 1999 to celebrate the coming of the millennium. Couldn't see the point of keeping it when i dont believe anyway.

i dont think so, after all a bible is a book too and books get old and need to be replaced eventually. if one is feeling guilty about throwing it away, then just donate it.

that is you who's silly. Sexual sin is under no circumstances "organic". it is why that is sin interior the 1st place... it became into by no skill God's layout. As for reducing off physique aspects, what Jesus is saying is that that is greater appropriate to no longer have physique aspects that reason you to sin for a rapid on an analogous time as than to be an entire guy or woman and use them to sin each and all of the time. with a view to "get rid" of those physique aspects, you may shrink them. as an occasion, controlling what you watch or examine is a manner of "gouging out a watch". he's not implying that we could continuously all purchase sharp knives and initiate self mutilating (that's a sin because of the fact it brings harm to your guy or woman physique). cool down. If he meant it actually, then the disciples in all probability could have misplaced some limbs themselves. in addition to, we actually do deserve the worst punishment for even the slightest mistake because of the fact we are rebelling against the King of the Universe as quickly as we sin. try threatening Obama and notice how that works out. that's what happens as quickly as we sin against God. even regardless of the undeniable fact that, i think of which you're observing God's grace the incorrect way... definite, we are completely and freely forgiven. we are no further under the regulation and we want no longer worry God's wrath everytime we sin. quite, he facilitates us conquer that sin. As Paul says, we are to try to desert sinful lives and try to be like Christ (via the Holy Spirit) because of the fact we've been set unfastened from sin. like the adulterous female who became into stored from loss of life, Jesus calls us to "bypass and sin not greater" and he empowers us to accomplish this command each step of ways. Jesus did no longer die for us to maintain on sinning. He died so as that shall we proportion his riches with him and so as that shall we be restored to perfection. on an analogous time as we are able to by no skill attain that familiar completely right here in the international, one reason Jesus died became into so as that shall we artwork in the direction of that purpose NOW. So Jesus is punctiliously justified in what he says right here (after all, he's God) and that i see no foundation to your assertion.
