I haven't had this problem exactly but, try going slow, like drinking vodka cranberry's or something very sweet that hides the taste of the liquor, I coulden't do shots for a long time because of gagging but if you start with mixed drinks or shots of say Malibu or other flavored rum's they go down way smoother and it may ease you back in. Good luck and be safe.

Not much you can do except jump off the bandwagon and start trying again...nobody likes a quitter. See moderndrunkardmagazine.com if you need some inspiration. I can relate as after an incredibally ugly night it took three months before I could even smell orange juice again due to a few too many screwdrivers. Work yourself back into it with a few beers and you'll be back to hard liquor in no time...don't give up the fight!!

i started drinking when i was like 14 and honestly hated the taste of liquor. i'm 26 now and dont even have a drop of alcohol anymore. Over time i disliked it more and more for different reasons, from the after taste in my mouth to regretting making a dumb-azz out of myself in public. i guess in your case its your body rejecting the alcohol since you had that experience before. must be like playing with fire.

It's a sign; I have had it too. I quit drinking because of the signs.. It may mean it is time for you to grow up and put alcohol behind you. I know I had too and I should have done earlier in life..

I know that once I turned 21 I lost my taste for alcohol. Sounds like someone had a birthday!

Your having flashbacks from that bad experience that you had. Sounds like you just need to leave the alcohol alone. You'll be better off.
