Yep. One of my friends at work is a Messianic Jew.

And your point is?

Being Jewish is more of a culture than a religion. You can be Jewish and believe that Christ is the Messiah, but still follow cultural practices such as lighting the menorah with your family and all that. Practicing Judaism is the religious aspect of being Jewish.

Messianic Jews are Jews who have converted to Christianity and accepted that the Jesus is their Lord and Saviour. They follow Christs teaching rather thatn the teaching of the old testamant ie Mosaic law (Law given to Moses by God).
The Mosaic law was no longer relevant when Jesus died on the cross for our salvation. The Mosaic law taught of burnt and blood offerings of animals to appease God, but these offerings have been replaced for us by Christ who was (to use the metaphor), the Lamb of God.

There's also a group called "Jews for Jesus". These are cultural Jews that converted from their Judaism to Christianity. Jews during Jesus' time converted and Jews since then have converted. Being a religious Jew and a cultural Jew are two different things.

They've been around for years now. Our congregation has worshiphed together with a local Messianic Jewish congregation from time to time. It's cool.

Hoping the best for you...

Yes. Isn't that wonderful. Messanic, or completed, Jews believe Jesus is their Messiah. It really is thrilling to me, to meet people who are Jewish and know Jesus.
