Lard is fat. So eating any amount of lard is "fattening". But who cares? If it tasted good and it wont kill you, go for it. Enjoy life.

dont use lard at all. Banana bread has the same calories as many other bread . Lard will increse the fat unnecesarily. Use vegetable oil.

Lard is fattening. I take nutrition, for every drop of oil, there are polyunsaturated, saturated and all types of unhealthy fat. So nothing is fat free technically. If you want to watch your diet, don't put lard. Put olive oil, it has been found to be the best in nutritional value.

Its still fattening but you can't just consider the actual fat that goes into banana bread. Sugar and flour are carbs, they also turn into fat if not used by your body.

when baking i substitute apple sauce, bananas or prune baby food for the fat. sometimes you can also substitute canola oil...they all work...the consistancy can change a bit, but the flavor doesnt suffer, in my opinion.
