what do you talk about on a first date? what are some imporatnt things i should kinda focus on trying to get to know first?

there are a few things which i consider deal breakers in a relationship. some things just can't be compromised. they would be:
-children. if one wants them and the other doesn't, you've got a real big problem. best to find out right away, but be sure to phrase it in a way that doesn't make you sound desperate to breed!
-religion. i'm not saying you have to have the same beliefs, but if you think the other will go to hell for wearing purple, and their religion requires them to wear purple (a silly analogy, i know, but you know what i mean) then you're going to have some head-butting.
-what they are looking for. if you're on this date looking for a possible life partner, but they just want a possible bed partner, then you're both just wasting your time.
be tactful though! remember, it's a date, not an interview. and don't forget simple compatibility questions, like if there's anything you both enjoy doing so you can do them together later.

I kind of agree with 'sup', but you can't just directly ask something like that, you have to be more tactful in how you obtain that information. Besides those, I guess things like their background and interests. You need to figure out whether you can agree about what you want out of a relationship, but try to leave that for a second date.
