We live in a small rural town on a very large lot that we share with two other houses, and so we have created a small pack of three dogs. My dog I believe in all areas is a very well trained and socialized dog, however when she is outside with the other dogs and another dog passeswith it's owner, all of the dogs charge up to the road barking and giving aggressive body language. I would be nervous if I was a dog walker. I truly believe this is a dogs natural instinct of protecting it's territory, and have found that if a "smart" dog owner stops allows the dogs to do "their" thing (sniff and "meet" each other) the next time that dogs walks by it is barely taken notice of. I guess I need to know how to teach my dog that it is not okay to go charging at these people and their dogs, she will not do this if I am outside, so the immediate correction is unavaible. Thanks for your help.

I had one that was like that ------------------- very docile unless he was with the neighborhood pack. We finally had to fence him. Barring that, maybe you could keep her contained in the house or a fence until you get home, then keep a close eye on her. When you hear or see them doing this, go outside immediately, tell her "NO" in a stern voice. Take her back to the house until the people have passed. Hopefully she'll eventually catch on. I don't advocate putting her on a chain unless you are there to protect her. My dad's dog was outside on a chain, and a neighborhood pack attacked their dog, doing a lot of damage.

Good luck.

I would consult a professional trainer for any issues dealing with aggression. The only quick fix I can think of is a bark collar and a fence- it will keep her from attacking the other dog, or being attacked, and the collar will correct her from barking at the dog. (Be kind and use the citronella spray version, not the electric shock version). But definitely find a trainer ASAP.

Perhaps it would be better if you talked to the other dog owners that walk by your yard. All ways a good way to make new friends anyway.

i got confused with the wording on your question is it the other dogs that charge yours or your that charges. if its your; she probably has a dominance issue; a fear issue; or the other dogs are sending aggressive signals that set her off. if its her you need to correct it by letting her be sniffed by the other dogs so she can know that there is no threat to her territory. now if its the other dogs that charge or sent the signals of aggression you need to talk to their owner's to get them in check
