Something most people don't think about are Deaf artists. There have been many throughout the colonial to contemporary periods. A Deaf artist that is a favorite of mine is Chuck Baird. A great book is Deaf Artists in America Colonial to Contemporary by Deborah M. Sonnenstrahl. A beautiful book filled with so many colorful examples of art. A different approach to art in Deaf Culture. You don't have to be Deaf to appreciate these wonderful contributions from so many artists. Good luck on your project.

First, decide what kind of speech you want to give--demonstration, informative, persuasive, etc. Here's some info. about the different types of speeches and also links to various topics and how-to's:
http://www.best-speech-topics.com/
I'm hoping that this will inspire some ideas. Possibilities include persuading people to go see a particular work of art in person, explaining how commercial photographers use lighting or different techniques, or why a particular architect, art work, or famous building was considered grounbreaking at the time.

I would suggest starting with something that interests you in Art -- a movement, an artist, a medium, a "use" for Art.
Personally, I would choose Dadaism as a reflection of life after WWI, because that interests me. Or Picasso's biography as it relates to his paintings of women. Or the social history that provided the background for Renoir's “Dancing at the Moulin de la Galette.”
Perhaps even Frank Lloyd Wright's vision of the Usonian house style, which fascinates me.

Take Van Gogh's paintings. His impression is an easy, workable topic which you can basically find anywhere on the internet. Try wikipedia.com
There will be a lot of info there. Plus, Van Gogh's art is easy, all the rest are more complicated and rule-based.

perhaps you can do an analysis on Whistlers Mother... if you have seen the movie Mr. Bean then that should make you smile if you haven't seen it then you won't know what the he ll I am talking about... but you could very much derrive a speech from the speech that Rowan Atkinson created for that movie about the painting of Whistlers Mother. look into it might be worth your time

how about mona lisa. they now think she was pregnant or just had a baby. and ,of course ,they still can't find brush strokes so Leonardo da Vinci still offers a lot for a topic in art.

I think you should do art therapy. Like how people who are mentally ill can use art to overcome their disability or how breast cancer patients can have art as part of their rehab, etc.
