Yes, all the time. It's part of the Israeli economy.

Not really, if you're strict. The rules are similar, but not the same. The method of killing, with the knife used in one motion across the neck and windpipe is the same.

Jews do not pronounce the name of God when the animal is slaughtered because they do not pronounce the name of God at all. I think that that is a requirement of Halal meat. So Kosher meat may not be Halal.

Halal meat may not be Kosher for a number of reasons. First, there are parts of the animal, like the back legs, that are never Kosher, no matter how the animal is killed. Jews also inspect the lungs for disease. And the meat has to be processed with salt to remove blood, or it is not Kosher. I don't know if Mulims do that. Perhaps someone can say so.

Excellent question! I don't know!!

I know for a fact that if the phrase "In the Name of God, The Beneficent, The Merciful" (Bismilah-irahman-irahim) is pronounced on an animal (except a pig) before it's slaughtered, it's good for a Muslim to eat it! It becomes Halal meat.

Is that what Jews do before slaughtering animals?

Yes it is alright for Muslims to eat Kosher. According to the Quran we are allowed to eat food from People of the Book - of course Halal is preferred. I try to buy kosher since halal is very expensive here. If I can't do the kosher thing then I simply buy from the grocery store with the best of intentions.

halal does not necessarily follow jewish laws of being kosher, so no. i mean, sometimes i am sure it does, but something being halal does not automatically make it kosher, because the laws of what makes something halal to muslims are not the same as the laws that make something kosher to jews.

Yes, I've read that in a site that's comparing food in religions. It says that as long as it's clean, Muslims and Jews can eat from each others food (except for wine, only Jews can). They both don't eat pigs because pigs are too filthy to eat..... (and I still wonder who in history tricked Christians and convinced them that as long Jesus didn't mind pigs, then you can eat them!!)
