I'm surprised at the responses. One would think that the younger generation would be more acceptable of alternate lifestyles.
Doug, it's no too long before you'll be finished school ... I'd just keep it between you and your friends, for the time being. You're still really young and you'll have lots of time to pursue a relationship, in the very near future.
For those that ridicule you, simply because you're gay... keep in mind ~ ALL CRUELTY SPRINGS FROM WEAKNESS~ People that feel the need to put others down ... because of their race, color, creed or choice of a life partner ... are people who don't feel good about themselves. You have your friends and family ... and for now, that's all that matters. Wishin' you a great life......

Well, I applaud you for coming out and asking for help instead of taking another, more drastic measure i.e harming yourself...sheltering yourself. Well, I don't think you should be worried about people shunning you or becoming less popular. High school is a phase...once you graduate you will move on and move out. You will realize how big the real world is. People (regardless of age) can be cruel...but that is when you need to stand up and be you. Who cares if you are gay, black, a woman, a transgender individual? Do not worry about what others think of you...if you do, you will be miserable for the rest of your life...because regardless of where you go, live, do, etc. someone out there will be judging you. Just remember you will be who you are regardless of what someone has to say. But it is up to you if you want to live a happy and fulfilling life.

You should forget about coming out at school..I know it's the honest way, but there's no need in it. They don't need to know your personal business. Keep your dating out of the school and meet a nice guy through a friend or friend of a friend. Don't be in a rush, though. You need to wait until you find a nice one, at least.

According to my sex ed program, a gay is a man who has had sex with another. If you didn't screw another man you're OK. If not, seek help urgently. =)
