I think it's 75% race and 25% legal status that most people oppose. I've read the comments on here and almost 80% of them were race oriented. There are so many people who stereotype. It's insane.
If a Mexican asks a question most people tell them to stay out of the country, or tell them to leave.
If someone from England asks about immigration most people are more than eager to help them.

No, I think they are against it because they daily see the effect of it on their children's schools and on health care and by reading about the economic state of the services we pay for for our own poor.
In fact, I think those who try to pin this as a race issue due to the fact that some small number of racists may also be against illegal immigration are trying to create a smoke screen to make this a politically unacceptable topic. However, the impact is far too great, and provable, for that to work at this point.

I have no problem with immigrants coming into the US and enjoying their lives. The problem becomes a problem when they don't respect the laws of the land they want to be a part of. If you want to come here, make a living, and take care of your family, ie: "The American Dream" then, DO IT LEGALLY!!
My son-in-law is currently working on getting his citizenship papers. I don't agree with the way he came here, but he is here now. Father to my 3 beautiful grandchildren. I do not want him to leave, and I also want him to continue to work to become a legalized U.S. citizen.
Most Americans are not prejudiced against the people of another land. The ones who are give us all a bad name.
In my opinion it isn't the race that most are against, it's the way they (illegal immigrants, not just hispanics) come here and expect us to take precautions to not offend them. The time for offending has already begun, and it's not Americans who are doing the offending. It's the people who break the law and expect us to look the other way and to not be offended while they continue to do so.

Of course it's NOT about race. You and many others seriously need to stop going back to the racism comments because it's not what this problem is about. Notice the world ILLEGAL in your question? We have a problem with ILLEGAL immigrants. There are whites who come to this country as well - - and let me tell you, regardless of someone's race - - if they're an American citizen and they want to keep this country safe from rapists, murderers, and drug dealers that most certainly does NOT make them a racist.

No , its because the IllEGAL IMMIGRANTS exploit the United States for money and jobs. They are NOT citizens and take jobs away from LEGAL citizens. This country's economy is already mucked up and Illegal immigrants make it worse not better. They are not registered for Selective Service. When a draft is called they do not have to as does EVERY MALE CITIZEN has to serve in the army. If Illegal immigrants want equal rights then they should get equal rights, they should serve too.

Yes, it certainly is about race, not about taxes or jobs. We are going to pay the same tax or higher, and Congress is going to waste the money, like it always does. Jobs are sent out of the USA, which is why they are so hard to find, not because Mexicans have them. I know this is not a popular answer, but this is how I feel .

I can't speak for everyone, but no I'm not. Anyone that enters our country illegally is breaking the law regardless what their race may be. It's just to bad that the pro-illegals on here have to make it a race issue.

No, they are against it because it is illegal.
Pretty simple. We can't take in everyone in the world that wants to come here and use our schools, hospitals, etc. This is not a race issue. It is just a fact that we have to limit how many people can live here.

I think the loss of jobs, houseing concerns, and resource demands are the most pressing concerns causing issue with the immigration. I highly doubt the color of the illegals skin is the big kicker.
