I mean if you looking for religions than great. But if your Atheist then why are you on here questioning other peoples religions. If your sure there is no God, then leave it be...
If it were up to me, you would spend your time researching religion. You don't even have to like my religion, but why harass people who Love God?

Look, I could go into the fact that theology is a scholarly field and that people can have an interest in a topic in which they don't believe (for freak's sake, enough christians ramble on and on about the science of evolution trying to prove it wrong).

So I'm gonna spare that and just be blunt.

I harrass people who believe in a deity because I think they're morons who have blinded themselves with a lie to feel like there is meaning and purpose in their life and the universe instead of facing the facts that everything is determined purely by mathematically definable laws, including their every thought, and because they're terrified to die. And frankly, if I can make even one person question or doubt for even a split second, then it's all been worth it because I'm doing something good and worthy for the future generations.

There, is that what you want to hear? Does that make you feel like you're somehow the better person? Does it contribute to your feeling of self-superiority?

Maybe you should ask yourself this -- if my religion or faith requires me to tell other people about my god, why do I have a problem with others sharing their beliefs in a deity's existence or nonexistence? Because from where I sit, asking this question makes you look like a hypocrite.

Christians tend to believe anything said to them, so hear this: Many athiests actually ask questions intended to help those infected with the jesus virus to break out of the "god is god because god says god is god" loop going in their heads...

I know, it's a Pyrric gesture since for most religion is something where the answer is pre-decided and anything not conforming is rejected. But there are some out there on the border between religion and reason that might be awakened by such activity.

Then there's just some that think baiting jesus freaks is fun :)

Maybe if you read this story I heard you might get an answer to your question.

A former atheist started coming to faith one day when he showed up at a meeting of atheists. The speaker said that he was going to prove that God didn't exist by daring God to take his life after he blasphemed Him. He proceeded to say something blasphemous and then said that he was going to give God three minutes to prove that He existed by striking him dead. So the people waited and looked at the clock and after three minutes the guy said "See! I told you that there is no God!".

The atheist who later converted says that at that moment he realized that he was a hypocrite in a room full of hypocrites because everyone was waiting to see if something would happen or not and so they didn't really believe there wasn't a God, they just hoped that there wasn't so that they could continue to rule over their own lives without the fear of a coming divine judgment when they died.

My first guess would be to hedge their bets....like if they think they might be wrong and SURPRISE, the is a God, they might have a point or two in their favor.

And I have always found it both funny and hypocritical when I hear an atheist say things like, Oh my God! Or God forbid. And my favorite has always been,,,Thank God that missed us! I heard all of these and more during my 18 months in Iraq. There are no atheists in foxholes!

The truth of the matter is that in the end all they will be left with is there excuses. That is why there won't be any atheist in hell. They will become believers as soon as they get there. All hope will be gone to those who perish in there unstable ways. When they loved there evil deeds more than any one thing. The things to them now seem to be unimportant and no thought or feelings for any one but themselves, the things they take for granted like the air they breath, the food they eat,the clothes on there back will all of a sudden will become important. But it will be to late. So there they be forever separated from God forever in the internal hell that wasn't even created for them. But I still have hope for them and will continue to pray for them.

Obsessed is putting it lightly. I say Mentally Unstable which is Hypocrisy! They are compromising their non-belief system by even questioning others about God. True atheists don't advertise nor mingle with those who believe. They do know more about the bible then some believers but that's only because they were influenced by it or either former Christians. How Sad!

Shalom =o)

You and others are certainly not going to like what I have to say but it needs to be said, regardless. Spirituality is NOT confined to a belief in god. My atheistic friend is a devout zen buddhist who is VERY spiritual and doesn't see zen as mere philosophy but as religion. Others talk about how the foundation of spirituality is the reduction of the ego; when we bring god into it, we often make god into something that supports our ego instead of letting god be what god is. By this I mean we make a god that rewards us for a lifetime of striving to believe and be good and/or accepting Jesus, punishes those who don't, gives our individual consciousness eternal life, etc. This is not spirituality; it's ego worship. Real spirituality is about having a direct experience of god -- an experience that can only come about when the ego is reduced (the ego -- the self-centered thought system that sees each of us as separate from everything else -- is the root of all problems).

There is often quite allot more going on than people admit to and in some cases are even aware of. There are plenty of people who have a quiet nagging going on inside of them despite all the bravado. I know this from personal experience as one who used to mock Christians.

I think as long as people ask....its a good thing!
Atheists to me...are people who just have not found the truth.
So I say ask away....and if your bitter, well I will just be nice anyway...and answer the question. After all...I am the one who has found the truth....and your looking, as far as I am concerned...Your lost .
So someone needs to help them...and if they listen GREAT!
If they don't ...well we all know what will happen(for those who know and believe the word of God)....Our job...is to help.

Such a good point! They just want to argue and start trouble. I asked a similar question once, many responded that they didn't need my permission or to tell people the truth about myths, or that they really didn't care what others believed as long as they were not getting it shoved down their throats. Well..........they wouldn't have to hear anything on this board if they were not in this section! Agreed?
