I asked myself the same question when I watched the show last week....Although they are heavy persons and lose the weight more quickly I think that losing that much in just one week is not very healthy.

The only reason they lose so much is because they have so much fat to begin with - in relation to their starting weight, 6lbs really isn't that much. However, another important thing to note is that they are devoting hours upon hours upon hours every day to going to the gym, and that they have personal nutritionists and coaches who are supervising their every move. I think it is safe to say that just about anybody could lose that much under those conditions

I always wondered that because it i was always being told losing that much weight was unhealthy. They seem to do it without any problems I would love to have a personal trainer and a chef to help me lose weight

If you think about it they are working out more then the average person can. Also they are reconditioning the body if your devoting the majority of your time without distractions (i.e., normal daily routine) then the weight comes off quicker.

Many of them have a high caloric requirement to sustain their excess weight. When they stop eating in such excess their bodies naturally begin to slim down.
Same concept for the rest of us. You have basic metabolic caloric requirements any excess goes toward fat. So eathier eat less or excercise more.

When you are very large, you lose alot in the first few weeks. It will slow down.
