Genovate are a reputable training institution (I've done two academies in their Singapore office) so I would listen to their advice.

However, I doubt that those requirements would be compulsory.

The SAP Basis role is very focussed around database management and networking, so that experience would be an asset, but if you want to learn it, then I'm sure you could.

If your experience lies in other areas, perhaps you should consider studying another area of SAP.
