People love their all-white depictions of Jesus. But looking into history shows he was likely dark skinned.

Also, to white Christians: Would you still be a Christian if all depictions of jesus showed him as an Arab?

Jesus was raised in a Jewish family. He was born of a Jewish mother and God was his father.

No one who is born again cares what the color of Jesus' skin was. We see the cross, not pigment.

True Arabs originate from the Horn of Africa. It only later grew to mean anyone who spoke Arabic or lived in the Arabian Peninsula. Jesus was a Semitic Jew. He was not necessarily Arab blood, however, and there is no way at all to know, though people of that blood can be Jewish, of course. In any case, someone said His mother was a Jew and His father was God. Actually, not really, not in the sense meant in that post. His mother was not a virgin, that was a translation issue. There is a word that existed in both languages at the time of translation, but had different meanings in each language, and the translator just left the word. In the original text, it actually just means 'young girl'. It's only in the translated language that it means virgin. Also, Jesus taught that He was the son of God as we all are. Meaning we are all God's children, not that God literally impregnated Mary.

It is a little bit silly that people are saying, "No he was not Arabic, he was a jew...". That is complete nonsense because Arabic is used mostly to denote a group of people from a particular area, not a religion. Arabic people can be Jewish.

Judaism is a religion, not an ethnicity. Yes, we know that people on yahoo keep saying that "Jewish" is also an ethnic category. That does not mean that it is!

Anyway, race is generally very vague from a scientific perspective. You will find much to corroborate that statement (I am not going to go into it all here!)

With regards to a person who was born in Bethlehem 2000 years ago I would be inclined to believe that he would look like the majority of middle eastern people. Statistically speaking he is most likely to be dark haired and light skinned. That is obviously not carved in stone but it would most likely be the general consensus. The "Jewish" part is irrelevant with regards to his appearance.

I Don't deny, but I embrace the fact that Jesus was an Arab...
BTW, Arab is not a Religion. Its an Ethnic group. Like Black, White and Asian Ethnic groups

Logical Explanation below:
Jesus Christ (Peace Be Upon Him) was born in Bethlehem which is just 10 kilometers away from Jerusalem.
Jerusalem is in Israel and Palestine(some parts).
Geographically Jerusalem comes under Western Asia (also known as Middle East).
Now we all know what people belonging to Middle East are called...
They are called Arabs... (Of course in a more Stereotypically Liberal manner)
Therefore it is safe to assume that Jesus Christ (Peace Be Upon Him) was in fact a Jew and an Arab. An Arab Jew in a sense of speaking. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arab_Jews)

How does anyone know what color was Jesus? He was as all Jews were of that time - not completely white, perhaps had a bit dark skin

Yes He was from the Middle East, and no his message is what touched the lives of millions, not how he was depicted in paintings. He most likely had tanned skin. Jesus spoke Aramaic, or "old" Assyrian, my native language.

It is a fact that Jesus Christ is a Jew. The basis of him being crucified was because he claimed to be the Messiah which comes from the Jewish people. So, to even try to say Jesus was an Arab is totally false.

Is it possible he was dark? Yes. It does not matter what color he was. That is irrelevant! It is Christ's teachings that have made Christianity the largest religion in the world.

Jesus is depicted as an Arab. It is just that the lighting was to bright when he was sitting for his portrait.
