Salam alaikum (Peace be upon you)
Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi rajiuun (From God we come and to Him we return). It must be hard for you to leave the place where you have so many memories. However you should remember that by leaving the place you are not leaving your son. Your son will always be with you as long as you remember him and pray for him. I believe moving to a new place will be better for you and your family. Because you can start a new life in a new place. You can always come back to your town for a visit.
Peace.

My heart goes out to you for your loss, there is nothing as hard as that and no easy way to move on. I think it would be hard to move to Cali and leave your son behing but it might be a good thing temporarly anyways to give you a chance to heal a bit. A little break might help and if you didn't like it you could come back. I will have you in my thoughts.

No, our loved ones aren't hanging around the place they passed away at, nor at the cemetary. They are in heaven and with you whenever they want to be. You aren't leaving him behind. He would want you to go on your way in life and be happy. He can go whereever you go! I lost my brother and I live outside the state now, but he is with me a lot! I feel him and just know. You can't take away the memories and presence of the spirit. You only move away from the physical death place or cemetary. God Bless, and go on, he wants you to!!!!

If it is too soon stay where you are for a bit longer. Not sure what is in California, is it a new job or do u have family there?
A geographical change will not change memories or your feelings....they will follow you.
Also a note...change your avatar...your subject matter and the picture do not correlate.

Absent from the body present with the Lord. Where would you be if you cremated him and scattered his ashes? You cant abandon his spirit any more than you can stop loving him. He lives in your heart and memories not in Delaware.

Memories do not attach themselves to places, although memories can take place in certain places in your mind. Make sure there are no unresolved issues in Delaware, and then enjoy a new chapter in your life. No one can take away your memories, and staying in a certain place won't take you back in time.

Move on. He will be with you always in your heart and in your memories. As for his spirit; it is in good hands.

That's a decision that has to be between you and God. But if you do decide to move to Northern California please be sure to visit the church I attend. We would be glad to share the gospel message with you and if you trust in Jesus for your salvation to invite you to join our congregation. http://www.alcf.net
