In Islam women have more rights than in Christianity. In Islam women and men have the same rights
Abuse is not allowed in any way. Men are the respect the women in their lives. Actually a Muslim man is to make his wife happy at all times.
I am a Muslim woman I am loved and respected by my husband.
I have full rights for education employment and as a any Muslim knows I keep my money and he still gives me more.
And in no wise covet those things in which Allah has bestowed His gifts more freely on some of you on others. To men is allotted what they earn and to women what they earn (4:32)
I have two BA's in Psychology and History and working on a PhD in History. Everything is equal.
Women are compensated for work because how much we do in the house.

Women are oppressed in many Muslim countries, just like many women have been oppressed throughout history in many Christian countries.
The teachings of Islam and Christianity can be used to support such treatment. But the majority of Muslims and Christians do not believe treating women as inferior is acceptable.
When we fight against the oppression of women, we should not fight Islam but rather the countries that support such a culture.
(BTW: contrary to what the "priest" wrote, very few countries believe that women must completely cover themselves up. Remember, the was a time when women covered their heads in a Catholic Church!)

Actually, when Islam was first begun, it gave women unprecedented (at that time) rights. They were able to be property holders and they were able to divorce their husbands. This was not common stuff from back in the day. Also, much of the oppressive stuff that's seen today was originally cultural, not religious. The Turks introduced the burka. Mohammed just said that women should be modest, which the Bible also says.

As much as Americans are "oppressed" to wear clothes in public. Dont look at it from American point of view, look at it from their point of view and where it comes from Islamic laws.
Im not supporting it either and if any Islamic woman who says they are getting oppressed then, that is a valid opinion. I dont think an outsider has a right to judge on a matter not in their own culture

Yes, they are. To give two examples: According to the Muslim Sharia (Law), the witness of a woman is equal half that of a man, “because of the deficiency of the woman’s mind.” (Bukhari vol.3 no.826 p.502) Mohammed said that a nation will never succeed that makes a woman their ruler.
If a Muslim man were to rape a Muslim woman, the man’s word would count twice as much as the woman’s. The word of a non-Muslim does not count at all in a court of law against a Muslim. Muslim man rapes a non-
Muslim woman, even if a second non-Muslim woman is present, his word (that he did not do it) would count equal to the word of both of them.
